Thank you, Mike! You've said exactly what I -- and I'm sure many, many others are thinking at this moment. And yet, for some reason, we feel helpless, not knowing what we should do. Writing this poem is a very important step. I was trying to figure out which of your stanzas I felt was the most impactful. I couldn't. They all are!!
I hope we all wake up soon and make short work him. Otherwise, as you say, the "die is cast."
Great poem! Take good care, my friend. Alana

Thank you much, Alana, for the six rating--and I'm right there with you on the waking up part, if you'll pardon the language, Trumpers need a good bitch-slap--WAKE UP!

You are welcome! And you are right.

Thanks again!

I agree with nearly everything you wrote here (notice the word nearly here, Mike), save one.
I am a six year veteran of the United States Marine Corps (Semper Fi). I own a .44 Desert Eagle handgun, and a Mossberg assault .12 gauge riot shotgun. I'd wager that if anyone breaks into my home and yours simultaneously, you're done for, perhaps, while I will most definitely survive. I've been cheated on by spouses, am a victim of night terrors, and suffer from manic depression. But never ONCE have I ever considered taking my guns to town with me to engage in a killing spree.
Guns don't kill people. It's the mentality behind the finger that's pulling the trigger that does the dirty deed...
I'll never be politically correct nor kowtow to the popular opinions of the masses. We have a right to bear arms--as responsible citizens. Do you really believe in your heart of hearts that gun murders would cease simply because they'd been taken out of the hands of law abiding citizens? If you really believe that, I want some of whatever it is you're smokin', my friend. That's just a Socialist Pipe Dream. If anything it will get infinitely worse...
While I may not always agree with what you have to say, I will lay down my life in defense of your freedom to be able to say it...~Dean

Thanks, Dean, and the key word you said is 'responsible gun owner'. I've got no problem with you owning a gun, but you'd pass a background check with ease. Not so some others. I really fail to see why the NRA has a shit-fit any time anyone tries to pass common sense gun safety laws. Oh, I take that back--they have a shit fit about anything that might cost the gun makers money. I think that's what bothers me so much, is them putting money ahead of people. I would like to commend you on keeping it civil, even though we disagree.

Absolutely, Mike. You're very welcome. You are as entitled to your opinions as much as anyone else. I would never think to disrespect that.

I must admit in Australia we tend to think that the man is a bit of a clown, a lawless Maverick. We have conservatives in Australia but they seem far left compared to him, we have gun laws here and they work very well, no mass shootings since a madman shot 36 people dead, including little girls shot at point blank range. And so in the nineties they rushed gun laws through, so unless you absolutely need them, one can't get them, well done, great work, good protest work, scribe on,

Thanks, royo, and the voters here must think we're living in the wild, wild west, because any mention of even modest changes like requiring background checks, and people go ballistic (pun intended!).. Our existing gun laws are INSANE! I may be wrong, but I think I heard somewhere that THOUSANDS are killed each year by gun violence. I wish we had saner gun laws, like you guys have!
-
Keep it up Mike, if enough start protests, eventually it'll work
-
Thanks, and maybe, but I'm starting to believe you can't fight the NRA!
-
I think you can, always believe you can beat them,
-
I hope you're right, thank, royo!

Most welcome

Mike,
Bravo on your most eloquent and brazenly bold statement in your poem that
is apparent you feel so strongly and adamantly about. You are speaking of
Trump by chance? I just heard tonight that another candidate is ahead of
him now.
"He knowingly unleashes the hatred of his followers,
who play follow-the-leader, and who are bull shit-swallowers."
Well that just about says it all with true ballegic attitude.
(I just made up that word just for you:)
Very profoundly said and written!

Thank you much, Linda--'ballegic' huh? Works for me!
True, Cruz is ahead of him in Iowa, but they always vote based on evangelic qualities, something The Donald (said with revulsion-no ego there!) ( is rather low in--I think Huckabee won Iowa in '12, or '8, so it basically means nothing! I still can't believe that a guy as abrasive is leading the Republican field, but I think something is wrong with the whole lot, so no matter who wins it...
-
You've got it there...I'm from Florida...so what about Bush?...lol
My cousin in Spain...(easy to speak out when you are living in a foreign country) posted something about the similarities of Trump and Hitler...gives one something to think about ...as well as your poem.
-
Believe it or not, I think Bush is the most moderate and rational thinker out there, but those are the same reasons he has no shot of winning the Republican nomination. Any hint of maybe being willing to compromise with Democrats is all she wrote. Of course, I've been known to be wrong!
-
We need mercy and when you said about what other countries think...My husband is from Holland and believe me...they have their opinions about it and I heard a lot of them when I lived there...and talk about rednecks...in Florida...I can go on and on...thank you for speaking out.
-
Sure thing--when it comes to speaking out, I never shut up, much to the dismay of some! You mentioned last reply about comparisons to Hitler. When I first heard that, I thought it was a little extreme, but not anymore. He's doing just what Hitler did, blaming one group of people for our terrorist problems, and, while I'm sure he's not evil like Hitler, he's using the issue to gain power. Lord knows, he knows less than nothing about anything else--well, making money, but that's about it!
-
Mike...I have got to come over to become your fan because I like that you speak your mind and do it so creatively.
-
Well, thank you, and I'm not used to someone actually agrees with me--lol!

Excellent poetic form that well describes Mr. Trump and those who think he is the right individual for president. I like the description of a reality show, that is what politics has become. I like your two line verses and use of rhyming words.

I agree 100%. What we're going through is crazy, and I heard that people in Europe see him as a clown. Yet, he stands a very outside chance of winning. Love the rhyming couplets. The message is very timely. Well crafted. Les

You deserve more than fifty stars for what you have written takes courage and probably will not be popular. I come from the UK and generally the man you refer to is thought a complete buffoon. Unfortunately money has been influence than reason. The whole of the western world seems to be veering to the right and the consequences could be horrific.
Happy Christmas!

Thank you, and I really can't believe what's happened in politics! Reason and common sense have left the building!
