This seems like it is going to be a very good series of articles on critiqueing or "critting" maybe if it's good enough we can make it mandatory. Lol. Thanks for the great read.

No chance of it ever being mandatory. Just some basic common sense. Thanks for reading it.

Jay: I love your Prologue. Your methods and moniker make an awful lot of sense to me. In fact, I do use most of your techniques and reasoning myself when Critting. You've written a valuable tool here for us to use, both as Crits and writers. Keep them coming. Very interesting and I love your sense of humor.

I found myself nodding, laughing, and "amen-ing" through much of this. It's a brave piece, and some of it truly needed to be said.
Good job.
If your birth year is posted correctly in your bio, you are 68. This is past the arbitrary age of "retirement" for many folks. I'm glad you haven't quit, and that you also will pursue with gusto the writing career you probably should have had, if you had not devoted so much energy to "being responsible" and doing the "real job".
Hurry up and write-- more every day! Time's slipping away, and with it the golden opportunities we still have, in our twilight years, after youthful stupidity and our "bulletproof" illusions fade. We are mortal. But you can write an immortal book or two-- or ten before the undertaker drains the water from your veins.

Thank you, my dear. I can always count on you to give me a fresh shot of enthusiasm. And, I'm glad that you read the prologue of How This Critter Crits. It is still a work in progress, as is its writer -- as are we all. I hope you enjoyed it. And, yes, I will be continuing my writing as long as there are people like you who thinks there's a need for it.

Hi Jay,
Sorry it took me a while to get here. In the wilderness of the Maine mountains, we keep getting dumped with snow and our servers have been down more then they have been up.
I enjoyed your take on the subject of reviewing, and the humerous way your prose captured some of the problems. I liked how you took a subject that could have been touchy, and turned it into something that makes us laugh at ourselves.
So that is what all this Critter stuff is about. I'm glad I stopped in, and will move on for one more for tonight. Very entertaining. CJ

CJ, you are so valued -- I want you to know that. Most readers won't consider reading my series now since it is not being promoted. You are reading it virtually for free and I appreciate it.

It is so gratifying, mjesencina, when someone goes back and reads from the beginning, not getting any member dollars to speak of. Thank you for your support.

I am so green I don't know how to award a 6-star...but this was so hilarious and succint that I will lump you in with the likes of Carl Hiaasen, Paul Levine, and Ed McBain. You are really entertaining, funny, and right-on-target insightful.
I look so forward to reading more of your work, and to finding out how to award a writer 6 stars....................

Thank you for your over-the-top kindness. I've heard of Ed McBain -- read some of his mystery thrillers. I am more than humbled to have you put me anywhere near his pedestal, let alone within touching distance. Stay aboard, Deni. My next segment takes apart and reassembles an Alice Munro short story. I'm hoping it will be well received. It's probably a week or two away. Thanks again.

Thank you so very much, Debbie, for your kind thoughts. I'm especially moved when someone goes back and reads something without "pay." I'm glad you enjoyed it. I hope you stay aboard. A lot more chapters to follow.

Hello jaysquires,
Hopefully this isn't a duplicate. I had a big fight with my laptop last night and I believe it won. I reviewed, saved, and watched as it ended up lost in cyber-space.
I totally enjoyed this prologue. My intention was to review your latest posting, but I read your suggestion on reading the previous pieces. So...I started at the beginning, and am glad I did.
You have quite a humorous flair in your style, which makes this writing very reader friendly. In fact, I'd have to say in truth it's entertaining and informative.
Great work,
Susan

opens on a humorous note that captures attention;
While I am appreciating this in it's entirety I really had to laugh at this: "I want to say, without hesitation that during this, my first quarter, I flew by the seat of my pants."
well written throughout; nothing to correct

Hello Jay, I hope you don't mind if I call you Jay. I decided to begin at the beginning and finish at the middle or where ever you are going with this article. It really is nice to visit a critiquers mind and find out what he is thinking and how he decides on one award or another. I'm not sure if we have met on my work before. I've learned a lot from reviewers here, so perhaps you were one of them. Anyway, I am off to read the next installment of your work. Thanks for sharing it. Oh yes, I am out of sixes as well for this month.

Yes, this was the start of it all. Believe it or not, at this point I had no idea where this was going to take me. Looking back, it was almost like I was making it up as I went along. I have a hunch this is how most all works get completed. You just hope as you finish typing one page that there will be something to put on the next. I do appreciate your reading this.
Jay.
