For this Lantern poem, you have written a poem which the theme of leaves fits perfectly. As they flutter in the air from their branches, they look like Chinese lanterns. But, this is about the summer drawing to a close, and it is, unfortunately, but the autumn colours are worth the loss of warm days. Well done and good luck with this lovely contest entry. :) Sandra xx

For those who live in the North,, the Northeast and Northwest and yes even the Midwest, this has to be a somewhat sad time. For it is a sign that cold and wet days are ahead. For those of us who live in more moderate climes, little will change. Oh we may see some rain, and for us that rain will be welcome, but for the rest of you, days of heavy snow falls, bitterly cold days and nights cannot be that welcome. Winter sports like skiing and sledding, we have that too, we just ride up to the mountains and when we tire of that we ride down to the beach and surf for the remainder of the day. I'm sorry, I did not mean to brag, but you see that is exactly why I moved from the East Coast to the West.

Nomi you do live in a very unique environment. We spent years in Seattle and in San Carlos (bay area). We never could see ourselves retiring back to Seattle and the bay ara just shook to much (LOL) My company moved us to the East in 2000 and we settled near Asheville in the Blue Ridge mountain range. We love our four seasons and at our elevatin we get a minimal period of snow in the winter.

Wonderful. I fear that I may have failed to indicate that my statements were all meant to be tongue in cheek.

The five liner verse complied with syllabication and was able to convey the subject clearly. A new season, a fresh leaf - ready to bloom. Great work!

Very nice. Yes, the leaves changing colors or curling in on themselves is a sign the seasons are a changing. It could also mean you have leaf curl and you need to treat that.

Nice job on the shape. Well done.

Noooo! This is a great contest entry and picture, but I can't stand that summer is coming to an end. Such wise and true words in a small little poem...excellent.

Boogienights, yes, this morning we had a low of 55 degrees and today it will be 80 degrees, the cool nights will get the leaves popping vibrant colors in about three weeks time.

It's a bit typical for my liking, I think if you're going to go with a piece about the fall that you really need some extra flair and panache, but it's technically solid. Good work, thanks for sharing. Later daze.
