This poem meets all the requirements for a Senryu in relation to 5-7-5, but I have always understood a senryu usually contains irony. A Senryu does focus on human nature (not nature or the season).

I love the picture of the little boy following his mother. Moms, we can't live without them. They make us strong, caring, and forgiving. I'm glad you're able to share your mother with us. A lovely poem.
