Hi Rebecca, Well said and well written. Most of Europe has been shot down for the last couple of weeks. I live in Spain and 47 million of us can only leave our home to buy food or go the pharmacy or the bank and only if absolutely needed.
Like you my closest family live a long way away and they are also in lock down. My daughter, son-in-law and three granddaughter's are in Denmark
My daughter is a nurse and my son-in-law a doctor, so I suppose they will get it sooner or later. Then I my brother and family in MA, US.
I liked your comments a lot and I'm in agreement, the human behaviour is sometimes hard to understand. None of us in my family understand the toilet paper thing. Good luck in the contest. Ulla:)))

Ulla, I send prayers out to you and families on the front lines, what a gift they are even more so in these turbulent times. Be well, this too shall pass.

Thanks, and you stay safe, as well. We're all in this together.

Well said. The world was in such a mess four months ago, with the protests in HONG KONG AND VENEZUELA and all the wars in the Middle East. Add to that the proliferation of the Nuclear bombs being built and tested in NORTH KOREA and then, IRAN'S aggressive moods, topped off with the cozy friendliness of Russia with the wrong countries. I think God may have said 'HEY WAIT A MINUTE, SLOW DOWN HERE.' Or China figured out a way to stop the protests. Who knows? Now is the time to put the pieces to the puzzle in the right place and start again.

We must think of others before ours self. It is the right thing to do.
Hard times are ahead. Think of your pioneer forefathers. If they can make it, so can you!
No matter how one looks at this virus, God is still in control. His will will be done on earth as in Heaven.

Blessings PenPal: hugs and health back at you.
My Mom-in-law celebrated her 90 birthday on 19 March 2020.
I even had an ad in the paper for people to come and bring
stories and cards. We had fun together.
I brought three batches of cookies that I prayed over for health
and blessings. One was red velvet cake mix with cream cheese
(no oil) egg and beat. I covered the balls into powdered sugar.
I'm sure you know the verse being that you are a praying chaplain -
thou our sins be red as scarlet, Jesus takes away our sins and make
us white as snow -- paraphrase -- easy to do and tasty.
Our community is at a standstill. John (hubby) has to unload groceries that disappear on the shelves. Anyway, hope all is well. Air hugs.
Stars and may you be in health. flylikeaneagle - nancy

Nancy, what an uplifting reply, thank you! Our children and grand children are spread across America, Seattle and Florida. My wife and I are 70 and 71 respectively and we so miss and do worry about our loved ones safety, but we know that God has a plane and we beleive our children area part of his plan. As for your husband, tell him fro me that I consider the work that he is doing is equally as important as first responders. Without his and his colleagues tireless efforts fat too many people will suffer needlessly, So A GREAT BIG VIRTUAL HIGH FIVE for him, bless you for your generous six-star review.

I have to say I totally agree with your words. I've seen some of what you're talking about with household items. Your story flows well and you point out the important things that we all should be watching.
God help us all!
Good job!

You have imparted a lot of wisdom here concerning people's responses to the corona virus. It is sad for the hugger, but even more so for those needing a hug. When I lost a son 22 years ago, I heard all kinds of platitudes, but what was most comforting was a friend who just hugged me and held me. It seems if we hug and not breathe into each other's faces, it would be safe........virtual hug to you ( )

Overall I pick up a very poignant message of despair vs. hope.
That being said, a lot of the message was hidden within a combination of extremely long sentences (leaning heavily on commas) and sentence fragments.
This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

Well, virtual hugs back to you, too. We are all missing the closeness of our loved ones and even those strangers we may have greeted with a handshake. Your post is well written on the dynamics of panic. The news 24/7 is not helping. News broadcasts are more sensational than the last and are fanning the fire. They seem to enjoy doing it. Best of luck in the contest. Marilyn

Comment from Gloria ....
A very well written Op-Ed, author. The irony of this horrible situation is that Americans en masse are learning about the value of that dreadful "socialism" they abhor so much. After all, $1000 cheques for everyone is socialism operating at its finest. Hopefully after this, folks will gain an appreciation for the value of chipping in for the greater good.
I'm still mystified about the toilet rolls, but my expectation is that in a very short while there will be a lot of them available for a very reasonable price at yard sales.
Now the ammo that's a whole different story.
Excellent entry into this contest and best of luck to you in the voting booth. :)

Haha! What a funny thought! I can just see the sings posted everywhere now! But, then there is that scary ammo issue, not much can be done to really deal with that one.
