Very good two three two offering as well as on point with an insight that gives the poet reason for pause as far as the pureness aspect of writing poetry. I find when I relax and take pause to see what flows from my heart, I sometimes get words I've never used, much less knew that they were words ( like LAIC and SPILED ). And when I would look them up they magically expressed what I needed. So, I believe the heart is just waiting to be an instrumental part of writing poetry. The picture just pushes the point of the words deeply inward. Great job reminding.

This 2-3-2, Listen, has the proper formatting and allows that the poet in contact with his or her muse can hear the world and separate the music from the noise.

Perfect. Well done on your win with this standout combination of picture and poem.
I think that child is going to be a conservationist - he is 'listening with his heart' in tune with the tree. (Of course, anyone who feels life with empathy and passion is a heart-listener.)

Who ever took that photo is a great photographer.. I can hear that child's warm heart beat ..both your poem and the photo complement each other perfectly.
In all honesty though , I think all artist listen to their heart and then transform their emotions in some form of art: poets in words
musicians in notes, dancers in steps , painters in stokes of paints on canvas and so on
...congratulations Melissa for the well deserved win!

I really appreciate the points you made about different artists express their emotions in different ways. That is so true. I thank you, Franca, for the lovely words and comments.

As it did for others, the precious picture by Anne Kerr of Anja Photos caught my eye; but the wise words you put with it prompted this review. Yes, we poets do sense the world more vividly and in greater depth than most others; and you captured all that in just five well-chosen words. Superb.

You are most welcome, Melissa. Your post is truly memorable.
Also, I commend you on properly crediting the photographer of that picture, as it is all over the Internet without such credit -- and, in many cases, altered, likely without permission. -- Mike

I really like this and the message conveyed in it. They do indeed listen with their hearts. You couldn't have picked any cuter artwork than this. Absolutely precious! Thanks for sharing this well written work. Well done!

You have made excellent use of the seven syllables you were allowed by this contest prompt. Yes, I too believe poets "listen" differently from others. That is an adorable photo!
