I enjoyed reading your tale.
As a lad I was an avid Dark Shadows (TV series) fan and this plot would have driven me crazy!
Good luck with the contest.

Well this certainly is a twist to things for a vampire and there is no fool like an old fool as grandpa used to say. Another man swayed by a pretty face.

This is certainly a different kind of vampire hunter. Looks like she has the hunting down to a fine art. I hadn't heard about this way of killing off a vampire until now. It certainly seems less dangerous than all the others.
Well told. You had my attention all the way through.

Oh, this has contest winner all over it, Mystic. I hope sincerely you win. It was a fine piece of writing. The storyline, was horrific enough, to make sensitive stomicks turn but for the subjet It was spot-on. Sincerely Anne

I like the characters and the set-up. The vampires are most interesting for their banality, just people trying to live their life without creating or inviting drama.
I like Angelique seeming like an innocent trying to save herself then shedding that mask as some hardened killer.
You used strong, descriptive imagery. Your world is built solid in my mind, it's rules for vampirism well constructed.
Good job all around,
Ryan

That's a new way of killing vampires. I've never heard of it. What if Byron had chosen to kill her instead? It seems a rather dangerous chance to take.
'concealed and ornate wooden chest' should be 'an ornate wooden chest.'

"Caroline, leave me. I need some time alone to think."
Don't we all?
I loved this line.
Your writing intrigues!
Your lines ran smoothly throughout and it was an easy read.
No errors to report!

Superb!! I got a real "Dark Shadows" feel here! So intriguing and captivating! And the ending was more than surprising! Excellent detail in describing the house and characters! Thank you for sharing this for the club challenge also!

WOW! Thanks so very much, Diana. I am honored to have this compared to that show - it ran a long time if I remember correctly. I am truly grateful for your time and uplifting feedback.

I use to watch a vampire show years ago; I think it was called 'Shadow of Darkness'. So when I was reading your story it made me think of that movie. It was very scary; a continuation each afternoon. The information about vampires is informative.

Wow Monica. That is a new twist to a vampire tale. Someone stalking vampires instead of vampires stalking people. Well done, I saw no spags while I was engrossed in the story. I enjoyed it as It held my interest. Good job. Nancy:)

WOW! Thanks so very much, Nancy. It seemed a good way to go since I can't write the gory stuff. What is surprising is the number of folks who feel bad for Byron and feel Angelique was the villain - not sure if that is a compliment to the writing or not LOL. I am truly grateful for your time and uplifting feedback.
