Your words mirror my thoughts about The Prophet. I have all his books.
The wisdom that he dispersed in his many years of speaking to his followers, is priceless. Your poem pays him tribute as do your author's notes. His treatise on Children is one that I read over and over as well as the one about Marriage. Better than a psychiatrist, right?

I loved the Prophet and I love this poem. I enjoyed the part where his Dad gave him the book, I really like the idea of raw idealism as a teenager and what his dad's suggestions meant to him. I truly enjoyed this poem, I feel it flowed nicely. Beautiful too, where the book sang to him. Nice piece of work,

I'm rating this high for a couple good reasons. Your capture of how this book touched you and helped you is a powerful connection you are making with anyone who reads your piece and then turns to Gibran. My mother gave me her copy before she died, with tears in her eyes.

I enjoyed very much reading your free verse poem. The information you provided for the reviewers concerning the Prophet Kahlil Gibran is priceless, well to me anyway, because I enjoy reading spiritual works. More importantly, I like the story within your poem. Your coming of age story and your father's influence on you to learn and how to remember what you learn is powerful. You have inspired me to read the book. I often think about reading more. I will now find the time. Best wishes!

I haven't heard of him before. It sounds like it might be worth the time to check him out. Your father sounds like a wise man, and you went home with just the right book. Good luck in the contest.

This is a very provocative poem, for sure. It illuminates the reader's mind with its. Many great lines, but my favorite are these: "and my hopes for harmony,
were touched, translated, transformed." Truly great.

What a wonderfully complex, tender poem of your prize. One learns what you experienced relative to your prize and what and why you cherish what you have. It is inspirational. Thank you for this delightful read.

If there had been a 6th star I would have rated your poem as such. Inspirational indeed. What a beautiful life lesson. I'm familiar with Kahlil Gibran's writing wisdom. I appreciate the pronunciation of his name. Your poem is excellent. Thank you for sharing it and about Kahlil Gibran. Peace be with you.

I actually believe the prophets had/have the heart of the poet, insight is delivered precociously in scripture, in fact swathes of the Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Job, are deeply philosophical, fulfilled prophesy, there were 343 prophesies, hundreds of years before and about Christ, every single one was fulfilled, many others about our present day. So your right about the poets role, many are sown into the culture of a country. Beautifully written free verse, blessings Roy
