This is great! It captures the emotions of young boys to a 'T' and you can really feel for both Toby and his friend through your emotive writing. It's a very enjoyable read, drawing you into the boy's world with empathy and understanding. I remember those training wheels -- and still have the scar to show when I took them off before I was ready. This story brings back memories yet takes me into another world of a young boy. Very well done!

I like your relatable story of a kid's self-conscious concern about what others will think, and how it is all relative and ultimately irrelevant when someone else thinks his bike is terrific... a metaphor for friendship and sharing, even when we think we are little and don't count for much.
