I like the fast food metaphor. Bringing nature to human world. The hummingbird does dart quickly around. I like the matching of the background to the flower in the artwork.
Congrats on placing third in the contest.

We're starting to miss our hummingbirds already. Most of them have migrated south for the winter. I love this well-written poem and the picture is wonderful. Congrats on placing, I can't get a vote.
Have a great day and God bless.

Thank you for the lovely review. Also, haiku should never be in caps. But so few on this site, don't realize what a haiku should look like. None the less, thank you for your support. Val

Followed the rules, paints a lovely picture of a fast-moving creature. A new take on "fast food". Has a very nice flow also. Enjoyed it.

Hello Val,
I enjoyed reading your haiku today :) I love hummingbirds. We used to see them on Vancouver Island, but not here in Calgary. I miss seeing them.
I love your description of what's happening in the picture. Great picture, by the way. For me, the aha moment was, "on the fly". I love a good aha moment, and you delivered. Delivered goes well with fast food on the fly lol! Now I'm amusing myself too much hahaha!
Best wishes in the contest. This entry should hold its own.

Thank you, Joy, this such a fun review. I am so glad you liked it. Hummingbirds seem to come and go in San Diego, but I truly miss them when they are not here. I saw so many of them in Vail, Colorado, that it blew me away. I sometimes think - they go where the spirit needs them.

Hello Val!
Congratulations on placing in the haiku poetry contest! Perceptive and humorous visual imagery...and so true! We feed hummingbirds from feeders in our gardens here in northern Michigan, and it truly does appear as "fast food" for these precious hummingbirds...
Take Care!

I had to have a laugh at this very witty and very traditional haiku, the though of a humming bird having a fast food "take out" is a filip for the soul, well done, excellent job, blessings and good luck, Roy

A very well-written haiku and the amazing humming bird who are able to feed himself in midair hovering over their food source for a fast food take away.

"haiku (speedy hummingbird)" is short, succinct and very much to the point. With a minimum of words, this talented poet tells it how it is. You KEEP WRITING and I'll KEEP READING. I look forward to seeing your next post.

Super cute poem and artwork. It reminds me of how delicate somethings in nature are and how quickly they go by. I love the play on words about fast food as well.
