Kill him again sister. Bury him upside down. In a community property state it is half hers anyway, She gets half of their estate, sis gets one fourth and brother gets one fourth and as original ownwer she gets the swing vote. She can sell everything and give them half and let that sacriledgeous piece of shit watch while she has a happy life without you in it.

Ma'am, I'm going to need you to calm down, step back and try not to look so guilty, lol. Nobody is pressing charges.
God bless,

Well here acting at the funeral probably wasn't believed if she was what her husband called her in the will for people probably knew what she was . It sounds like she may have married for the money. Foregiveness showed that in a way he still loved her. She didn't deserve the money she married for.
Congrats on tieing for third place.

This is dramatic and funny and ironic all at the same time! Pete and Abbey's reactions would have been entertaining, if you ever feel like expanding this for another time. Nice job on a short-short that does not bore, not even for a second.

Yah, the world we live in--isn't it? Have watched many true crime docs, as well as numerous court battles. Smacks a the same thing, doesn't it? Greed, corruption, all out. People want what they deserve. But why does that have to come at the cost of the deceased?

I'm reading this too late for the vote, but I just love it. A delightful husband-wife mystery and surprise ending. The story is well-written, too. I have not given you a six only because I have none left.

Steve-
What a perfect ending for a fabulous story. If he'd left her NOTHING, it would have been an average story with an average ending - the kind of story we're used to around here, actually. (shhhh....) --wink--
But with this particular, tidy, small, little adjustment - you moved this story to a whole new level. Amazing. So smart and so well done. I imagine this story should do well with the judges -- so that means, unfortunately, you'll probably end up on the cutting floor. --sigh--
Anything I LOVE... they hate. So, I'm very, very, VERY sorry that I like this, Steve - it probably spells the death of your chances with the CEC. So SORRY.
But I'll wish you luck anyway. Go get 'em!!!

Lol, thank you for this beautiful six-star review, Robyn. I generally don't enter these contests, I stick to the ones that go to vote. If I win it would be validation that I've improved over the years.
I have enjoyed the many sixes this piece has offered up. Also, I have a novel in editing now with a traditional publication press. They've accepted it and want a series of three. This is exciting, but still, have revisions to make. Probably publish after the year ends.
I have learned so much from folks such as yourself and my dear friend Dean Kuch. I will miss that man dearly.
Thank you
God bless

HUZZAH! Congrats, Steve. I know you're over the moon. I'm thrilled for you! Wish Dean was here to see it... --sniff--

Me too!

Oh, wow, this is fantastic! I enjoy reading flash fiction, especially when every word is chosen carefully. The ending surprised me (which I like) and what's more, this story held a wonderful message. Hugs, Lou

lol, she got what she deserved eh? not what she wanted. great twist for the ending. in 80 words you told the whole story of what has been happening in their lives, and karma has struck.
