I mean, if nothing else the forefathers thought we should have not only the moral obligation but the ability to overthrow our government if the corruption gets out of hand, and damn is not looking good at the moment ;) Shooting is also one of funnest sports around.

I agree whole heartedly. I believe the feces will hit the oscellator when they try to take away the second amendment. People kill people, not guns. Maybe we should take away the guns of the Secret service that
protects the liberal politicians. Excellent post.

I have a serious objection to the NRA and other groups protecting the sale of weapons used for mass murder, and not for hunting. Unfortunately, many folks believe NRA propaganda claiming their opponents are attempting to repeal the second amendment and confiscate everyone's guns.
Hunting is ingrained in our culture, and most Americans support protecting hunters' rights,
and we also support protecting our schools, churches and public places from massacre by weapons of warfare.
To our credit, our first-amendment rights to free speech guarantee you and me, and all of us, the freedom to air our many different beliefs.
I bet you agree with that, Larry.

I have a serious objection to the NRA and other groups protecting the sale of weapons used for mass murder, and not for hunting. Unfortunately, many folks believe NRA propaganda claiming their opponents are attempting to repeal the second amendment and confiscate everyone's guns.
Hunting is ingrained in our culture, and most Americans support protecting hunters' rights,
and we also support protecting our schools, churches and public places from massacre by weapons of warfare.
To our credit, our first-amendment rights to free speech guarantee you and me, and all of us, the freedom to air our many different beliefs.

Thank you Ogden for your review and the 5 stars. To be honest I don't think about the NRA a whole lot one way or the other. But I do care about our rights and I do feel strongly that the left is trying to infringe on our gun rights. So I take a stand on this principal alone. Take care and have a great day.

You're welcome, Larry. The government's not going to interfere with your gun ownershhip. The NRA has scared the bejesus out of folks that "the left" is out to ban guns. So more and more people are buying guns, anticipating a ban. The more guns sold, the more powerful the NRA gets.

I believe in the US that there conversation is a bit like stepping into a hornets nest. Some of those against change are prepared to guard that freedom with their lives or so I've heard... and those for change are prepared challenge them regardless of the outcome. A very dangerous standoff.
Here in NZ our gun laws have just been scaled right back since we had our first racially charged mass shooting. No one is allowed to own automatic weapons anymore. The government has just adopted a buy back scheme which is going to cost them millions BUT most people seam ok with it : )

I grew up in a small town in Kansas. I could shoot a gun before I could read. My dad was very proactive about teaching me and my sisters proper gun safety and how to handle a multitude of different firearms. As an adult I still love to hunt, I also have my CC permit. I loved your poem and the spirit of the gun owners in this country.

The concentration should not be on the firearms but on the arms that fire. The people! The rules for gun buyers should be so stringent as to who is able or not able to buy. There is the crux of the matter. Also, there should be rules about storage in homes making the firearm non accessible to other than the owner. Your piece is very well said.
