Oh no! an aggressive addict! Who does the shopping at your place? Don't let this happen again... overstimulation by caffeine and then its lack is not a good place to be, as you very clearly show in your dramatic poem.

Everything in moderation;^)

It was quite funny actually, to read of all the aggressive and cranky reactions when confronted with no coffee by usually mild-mannered people.

I played to the stereotype, as neither I nor anyone I know gets aggressive without coffee. Some get a bit cranky, maybe. I enjoy a cup or two but would be just fine without it on a given morning. (I think..:^)

Best not put it to the test!! I never touch the stuff, but might get crabby if there was no bread for my morning toast.

I love it! Very good Chip... a virtual 6 for making me look up a word! I love this, 'paucity' I love when I get to learn a new word! I love it more when I have to look it up myself! :)

Hello Chip!
What a treat! Delightful employment of metaphor and personification. And the last line: "grounds for fighting" = smiles all around. Clever write. Best Wishes!

So well done. Yes we can never do without, once we've been hooked. But there are positive aspects too. Believe it or not, coffee reduces a lot of risk in certain ailments. I totally relate, and I love your poem.

Your ultra-concise, excellent poem makes effective use of lively
descriptions of the power of COFFEE and how its absence turns us
into raging combatants! :-)

I can certainly relate to this for I drink much coffee.
This is well rhymed, witty as well as humorous.
Mister Dunkin was no fool. A great choice of comic book art
works well for this fun read.

Short, to the point, and packs a punch. My husband is a coffee drinker and I rather not talk to him until he has a cup. Well done and good luck to you in the contest.

Thanks for sharing a poem about something that everyone but me in the world enjoy! Seriously, this is very creative, and the ending it with "grounds for fighting" is the best. I feel the same way when there is no chocolate in the house! Well written, great choice of descriptive words!
