At least you know you're not getting totally ripped off Aiona! My niece is now married to a mechanic whose father owns the shop at the top of my street. I've never gone to them before. Anyway, before they were married, they had a little girl, she's 5 now, a real cutie pie! (see "Ashley" an Acrostic I did) My car needed a lot of work, dad was paying. I had a headlight out, and other stuff. It wasn't just the bulb, I tried that. He says, "Oh, take it there, we share a grandchild now, they'll give me a good deal." So, I did... they found extra stuff that I didn't know was wrong with it, didn't fix some of the things that were wrong with it. Had it for three days, said that someone had wired the headlight wrong and they were going to have to take off the side panel to find the wrong wires, make it right again, could take another 3 days to do. I needed the car for work... I took it back. I took it to my own mechanic down the street from there, he told me it needed a bolt behind the assembly, one had fallen out... he put it in for free. Took him all of 5 minutes from opening the hood to putting the bolt in. I swear... some people. I told my father. We always use mine. lol

Repair work is something way out of the possibility realm for me, however, I'm an expert at breaking stuff, so there's that. I hope you get it fixed, and at a cost of much less than taking it somewhere to be fixed!

Thanks, Mike. Yeah, I really can't afford to hire anyone again. Last time, a mechanic serviced it, it cost $3500, but the funny thing was, I did most of the work -- coolant flush, alternator belt adjustment. I think he changed the impeller. Supposedly changed the oil....... I changed it again later in the summer. It was black. So I HOPE he changed the oil. Anyway, all that, I could do myself for $20 for a filter. $4 for a belt. So yeah...... saving money.

Hi Aiona,
Well, good for you doing all this work yourself and learning all about diesels and electricity. It looks as if you have a good multi meter; hopefully one with an amp clamp to help you find where the power is coming from. Please be really careful with that! Thanks for sharing. Jan

Yup. I really don't want to electrocute myself. I took a class hosted by the local community college, and they talked about how sometimes you can be fooled into thinking you have no current, when you have an inverter and/or battery charger attached. So that's first on my list to disconnect. Someone told me it could also be "static." I dunno about that. Someone said it might be current from someone else's boat discharging into the water. Our marina is said to be a "hot" one. So that's possible.

This was a good read. I could really feel the frustration building in this piece. But at least you're trying it and doing it. This had a good flow to it and the imagery was good as well. Good job and good luck with the rest of the work.

Thanks! I wasn't sure if the abcb rhyme scheme meant that had to be for the rest of the stanzas too.
