The joke will be on the medical staff if they run a DNA. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very interesting read. There is very good imagery. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas, Bill.

This is certainly an update on an old favourite. It would seem in this version it is the innkeeper who turns out to be an ass (presumably not the one young Mary rode in on). Seasonally appropriate, and I suspect it might do well.

Your flash fiction piece, interestingly, creates a modern-day setting for the most precious birth ever. The scoffers in the story represent a group of people
who have smirked at the idea of the virgin birth since the event occurred.

I performed in a musical called "Two from Gallilee" as Jacob, the father of Joseph, over three Christmases, in the 90s. The story was just as credulous to the participants as the cynical as the two medical staff in your clever short story Bill. Well done, and excellent entry in this contest, well done, blessings, Roy

A very well-written short story. What seems impossible for us in nature is a definite possibility with God, although the birth of Jesus from the virgin Mary is more a spiritual birth for Mary [the soul].

At first I chuckled at the humorous lines in this short story, but the last line really hit me. How people must have laughed and ridiculed Mary as she "a virgin" gave birth to our Savior fulfilling prophecy and God's promise. What a creative retake on the historical virgin birth of Christ. Thank you for sharing this!

I read a really good short story, Eyes Of Onyx, about the end of the Piscean era, and the birth of Keats's new messiah(scary kind of gal) in a California gas station...I like this kind of story...fivers.

This is a good one a little funny the way this is put but it serves the purpose for getting the point across about Mary having her child. May everyone have a safe Christmas.
