Whoa! If it ever shifts position or tries to shake us off, we could be in a heap of trouble. You would think that we would do a better job of being tenants on the kindly old fella that has allowed us to live here for lo these many years. Yet we continues infecting it with all these terrible diseases, pollution, over population, deserts, tsunamis, etc.

It?s okay. We don?t care about clean air or water, the land set aside to not abuse, or anyone but ourselves now, At least until Rump and and the Rape-publicans are out of office.

How very true your phrase is. It is very rare that i have seen such an illustrative words like what we have here. I had to read it twice to grasp what it means, when i got it, it hit me as amazing. Very well done, we hope all of us will keep walking and not run. Good luck. A winner. Terry

This was the first time,
I saw a 5 line rhyme
I got psyched
Because I liked
Your contest entry.
It made sense, it had a rhyme, and it entertained me

This is excellent. There is nowhere else for us to go. Nicely composed and illustrated. Much luck in the contest with this well put-together entry. Marilyn

A well formatted 5-Line poem -- a wonderful message about taking care of the earth as it is our only home and should be cared for as such. A fun alliteration of the Earth having its back walked on as in some Japanese massage method. Yvette :)

Pretty fancy footwork with your presentation! Excellent wording with the idea that we walk on earth's back but can't run away. Your five-line format is perfect. Best of luck in the contest. I'm doubtful about the effect for good or ill that man can have on the environment. Maybe he can make a small change for the better. Still, we're at the mercy of some cataclysmic event like a supernova. There was a devastating ice age, and man wasn't around to cause that. judi

We certainly can?t stop volcanos from erupting or cows from farting, but we can stop what we know we are doing to kill us.

I just don't think it's helpful to frighten the children about the dire things that are bound to happen if they don't heed the warnings of some movie star. judi

Nope.
We're stuck and have nowhere else to go.
But don't think for one moment that we're not trying to rectify the situation.
Plans for colonization of the Moon and later Mars are already in the works.
Cool presentation, Bill.
Good social commentary.

we walk on its back today,
but can't run away. <-- terrific lines!
We'd better keep it clean and comfy cuz we have nowhere else to go if we mess it up. Very good point. So, why are so many so complacent? I think most folks think "somebody else" will clean up their mess for them. That's what happens when folks become dependent on govt to handle all their problems. Newsflash: govt only makes things worse! People must take responsibility, but those days are long gone. We've become soft and lazy, and it may be our doom.

Used to be dumping and smog were Big Planet/Little Dump issues, but now the dumping exceeds the Big.
