Where do you live that you know bears so well? I've done back country back packing. Lots of bears around...sniffing out my food. Good job.

Thanks, Rickie. Michigan has some bears.

Rather benign of the bear to eat berries. I hear stories about how close the bears come to some people's homes, attracted by the trash cans, maybe. In some states they are protected. Personally, I'm glad I never had an encounter with a bear, as I usually don't have any fresh berries on hand. Clever presentation about the black bear. judi

Hi Bill. This is almost a haiku. But minus one of the seasons and a transitory verb between the first and second line. I have just been learning about haikus. I think you know more than I do. I was just making an observation. Your poems are all so cute. Thank you for sharing

Thanks, Pam. I would never identify anything I wrote as a haiku. That is a form that is highly subjectiv3 and you would get two schools of thought on it wherever you go. This is merely a poem. It is is mor3 what is widely kno2n as a 5-7-5, which adopts the seventeen syllable format, but not neccisarily the seasonal or nature-oriented theme.

And those thorns and pricklies never seem to bother them!! :) ;) A fun 5-7-5 for the newly christened bear collection -- thanx for sharing today! :) Yvette

Another lovely picture, this time of the black bear, they are majestic animals, aren't they? It's good they can survive on berries and fish, but let's hope the forests aren't all chopped down and homes put on them. We are losing too many of our wild animals. They were here long before we were. :) Sandra xx

It appears he just woke up and is thinking about berries, and whether he should get up now or let the berries wait. lol.
You obviously know about bears and their appetites.

I like this one a lot, of I had a six star left I would award it to this poem. Bears are cool. Next try one about the grizzlies. Nice job. Good luck in the contest.

Lol. I like your abbreviated berry names. The ones in the wild have even more syllables - thimbleberry, salmonberry, huckleberry and the bear will eat them all including some small animals.

I like your use of color and alliteration. The image of a bear listening and responding to the call of tempting fruit, makes me smile. I must have some bear in me, because the berries call to me as well. :)
