Sounds like you are trying to do the best you can under the circumstances. No one ever said getting older is easy. I know. I'm getting there myself. Noticed no spags in this posting and enjoyed the interesting read.

It's hard to deal with change sometimes. I have a family member who was just diagnosed with cancer. He doesn't have a license and although he doesn't live in town he doesn't live far from the hospital either. Still, license or no license, he has to get to his doctor appointments. Getting rides is sometimes a challenge for him but he's making it work. That's all you can do.

Hello Sankey,
I just popped in to post an essay on Trump, then checked the inbox (overflowing). I picked out your post and wanted to say "Hey there, friend."
Still don't know when I'll get back to FS "full time"!
Take care, and warm regards,
Aki

Hi there I am still on the edge here too still a lot to finish off if and when I decide to leave, but I keep on seeing new folks in here! Sigh! This is a part of a new bunch of stuff inspired by Sasha the fellow rambler in Mexico. Thanks for picking me out.

Thanks for keeping us up to date on the car transaction. I hope the new, "old hippie" owner remembers to complete the sale soon. We have Lyft now to take us reasonably to appointments, if they are not near a bus line. Yes, a story about your "walks" would be a good sequel. Cheers- Joan

Ok Joan, thanks for the encouragement. Currently waiting to see the Duetitian to see what sins I have committed since the last appointment. Cheers.

I hope your report card is better than you expect. Take good care of yourself- Joan

She said I am on track. Amazing how just a crumb of Gluten can corrupt the system.
-
Yes, research shows that a tiny bit of Gluten can remain in our system for months. I am glad you are on track. More cheers- Joan
-
Yuck thanks for the reminder. We need to invest in individual toasters hehe.
-
I hadn't thought of that potential contamination. I guess I'll stick with using the toaster oven for my items and let my husband use the simpler toaster for his. -J
-
Sounds good. I can't believe just a minute crumb of gluten can contaminate! CONTAMINATE CONTAMINATE..getting that word established in my psyche, hehe.

I will be having my very first pick up by our "Great Community Transport" next Tuesday for the ENT appointment. For $AUD10.00 I get a ride to and from the appointment. It is a volunteer driver, just for me.
-
To and from--that's great--I hope you are impressed! Best wishes- Joan

Yeah well the only cheaper way is on the bus, a 45 minute trip from our place to the Doc...and I would have a fair walk from the CT Scan place after picking up my pictures then to the Doc. Certainly cheaper than the taxi. Car is gone. :D

Yes Gert having seen more road rage and the cost of fuel spiralling it has all happened at the same time. I have a neck problem that would preclude me passing anymore driving tests as well. Thanks for coming by.

You are welcome Sankey

Hi Sankey. I do hope everything will turn out okay with the sale of the car. That old hippie sounds a bit dodgy, but at least you still got the car. I'm glad you're able to get out and about once in a while. Sounds like the food shopping is sorted. All the best. Ulla:))

A very well-written story about the down-scaling of your life. It is the better thing we can do for ourselves when we start to age. We do not need so many unnecessary things that consume time and cost money to uphold.

Hi sankey. I am glad you sold the car and hope you get the rest of the money. You and I and Louise are lucky to live in areas where transportation and other services for the disabled are available. Groceries being delivered is a lifesaver. Good luck and thank you for sharing
