That gerbil's a tough little fellow! I hardly think anyone with a heart could commit gerbilcide, as those fellows are just too cute to kill. I think this is a great contest entry, and I'm sure it'll do well.

I gather from your not too subtle clues that your wife is not a huge fan of gerbils. I can categorically state that mine would be even less of a fan. It would no doubt come down to you and your rat can just get the hell out and do not ever bother to come back! I can also tell you without hesitation that I love my wife, my home, my life far too much to risqué it for a gerbil, end of story, mail it in.

I actually don?t have a gerbil. If I did, however, I assure you all of these actions would be in play.

OK then.

Hi Bill, so we have definitely learned one thing from this funny poem, and that is that your wife doesn't like gerbils. Poor little things. I liked this, and good luck in the contest. All the best. Ulla:)))

I thought she?d mellowed on gerbils. She built what she called a Gerbil Motel.

What's your wife got against gerbils? Clever story in this, and great work with the rhyme. It sounds like gerbils don't live very long, or maybe those who are unfortunate enough to be around your wife. I didn't notice this contest listing, but good luck whenever it is. judi

I can't recount the many times
I've found the gerbil in the chimes;
LOL! What a great start. Poor little guy. LOL! Your wife is a meanie. Imaginative places to put him, I'll give her credit for that.
When my kid was young we had too many gerbils, because they kept multiplying. And doing long division, too.

If my wife touched a gerbil she would be blindfolded and expecting a raw egg or toilet brush as a joke. A gerbil would launch her through the ceiling and into space.
"...kept multiplying. And doing long division, too." So funny!

LOL! They're cute and cuddly. I'm sure she would learn to love the little critters. :)

Hello Bill, I gather your wife is not fond of Gerbels. I think this is a very funny poem and it made me laugh. Funny images and a great entry for the 'I can't' contest. Original and entertaining and thanks for sharing it, Ana.

Goodness me! Quit bringing gerbils home. It's not safe for them.
What clever ways to dispose of them, though. Never would have thought of them.
Good luck in the contest.

I happen to like gerbils, but I can see where your wife is coming from...they do look a bit like little mice. This is a funny contest entry that goes well with your series. Thanks for this humorous poem and best of luck in the contest.

Comment from Gloria ....
What happened to my Gerbil? He looks tanked. I guess I best read and see what happened.
Oh well he seems to be a bit worse for the wear but may have another Gerbilcide attack in him yet.
Excellent contest entry and great fun to read.

Oh dear! That's pretty sadistic to tie a poor animal to the chimes. I think the gerbil could eat his way through the ropes, though. A unique kind of horror story poem. Poor gerbils - as if eagles weren't enough to worry about. But maybe they don't worry.
