This was a favorite series-all of them were really fun and original. Poor little dots of dinner in this one. At least they left the race happy.

Some come running.

I'll pass on the snail, even if embellished with garlic, butter, and wine. Excellent rhyme in this. This doesn't sound like a very exciting race, lacking the element of speed. Oh, what they suffered getting scratched on the sidewalk in their attempts to win. That doesn't make the dish sound very appetizing. Cute and quirky. judi

Those poor snail may have asked, what in the world are we living for? The answer of course, to feed some greedy carnivore. Shame on you Bill, eating those poor snails at the height of their racing careers. Umm, yummy for the tummy.

Aha!
Comment from Gloria ....
Poor little snails. I feel very sorry for them not knowing about the butter and the hungry humanoid on the other end.
But, I must admit this is about the way life goes.
Most entertaining, Bill.

Ah! Competition always results in at least one loss, doesn't it? In this case, of course, two. Cute poem with surprise ending. Children's cook book? Nice picture!

This is a very cute and well written poem you have penned. You used very cute and descriptive words and cute imagery from the art work. I truly don't think I could acquire a taste for eating a snail! lol Blessings, Teri

Surprise ending! They should have practiced more for speed. In this case, it wasn't winner takes all, but the spectator takes all.
You remedied any despair at losing the race. lol

Lol! Oh, no. All that hard work is rewarded by that? No cornbread first?
I thought of you when I read this joke: A snail thought he would be faster without his shell so he took it off but found out that all it did was make him, "sluggish."
