Nicely done triolet about war and the peoople that shouldn't be hurt by it. Are those that supply the weapons really friends when the cause such needless death and pain.
Congrats of the win.

Wow, written perfectly! I know for me personally it makes me think/imagine being there and what it must be like living that every day. Its a sad world. I love the choice of words, i love how you put it together. The way you chose to write it and the words you chose, not bug huge words we don't even use every day made it so much better and more easier to understand and create a visual image. Well done! Would love to see more of your work!

Definitely a six-worthy poem, Tony, but I have none left and wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed this creative and well-written Triolet. You tackled a most difficult topic but handled it perfectly, telling a complete tale in eight lines. The repeating lines fit smoothly in place every time. It is not easy to do this, and I am filled with admiration for your skill. I'm so glad you won a blue ribbon for this splendid effort. Congratulations!

Missed this one, Tony. A jolly well done...I am out of sixes which would not normally go to short poems, but I liked this for the right reasons.
Best wishes,
RG

Congratulations on your win. This was an exceptional piece, well-written and well presented. The sentiment, though powerful, is simply stated. And the short narrative makes the reader think about this and other catastrophes affecting innocent people in thew world today.

This war, like all wars, is taking a huge toll in humanity. Eighteen million is just under half of the population of Canada. I can't understand why anyone, anywhere, feels that the killing of children and their mothers will benefit anyone in any way.
When will we ever learn?
I remember all the anti-war songs of the seventies. I do believe that they made a difference. Songs like the Vietnam Song by Country Joe and the Fish:
And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.
Maybe we need to get back to pressuring our governments to stop feeding the war machines, and to stop greasing the wheels with blood.
Rose.

Thanks, Rose. The scale of this disaster is unimaginable. What a bizarre flaw it is in human nature that drives us to destroy the lives of others in this way.

What happens in the arenas of war makes me sick. So far, I've seen little good come out of war. The tyrants must be stopped - the tricky part is figuring out who the tyrants are. Rose.

Yes, this tragedy has seemingly no end with weapons being supplied. And all the young lives that have been taken from a war that seems to have no hope, and those who do this supplying, I don't think they are the ones suffering and dying from weapons of mast destruction,...doing what their powerful leaders desire and seemingly no qualms even if innocent Syrian children. are its victims, or too, those in Iraq, etc.
Thanks for writing about what needs to stop...Caressa_08

What a horrible thing that the war has been enabled by the weapons supplied, probably by the US and Russia, and God knows who else. It makes me feel sick inside. Worse yet, are the people who want to ban Muslims from our country, these refugees who desperately need a place to go.
A beautifully written triolet about a most grave subject.

Absolutely right, Carol. There are some strange and disturbing things going on in the world at the moment. Leaders are able to do some particularly wicked things when they have whipped up enough fear and prejudice.
