Beautiful poem that flows so well
Redeeming the sands of time
That we must all look upon
May ours be held like yours
With all the turns in our life
Does the sand still flow so well
When held close to ones we love
Than the sands are secure

Right away the first stanza gets my attention. I do believe that we are given just so many grains of sand and we must make the most of them, not squander them:
"Our sands of time are given to
us on the day of birth,
Just what we do with them each day
is measure of our worth."
These are the most meaningful.

Hi Marilyn, Yes I tend to agree what we do with our sand is how we live our lives and one hopes not to be frivilous and wasteful. Thanks for reading ,have a lovely day. Cheers Christine😀
Comment from Pantygynt
This is interesting as you have gone for a poetic interpretation of the title, whereas most if not all of the ones I have already read have opte to write on what the picture meant to them. There is nothing wrong with either approach. The title is part of the picture and this is, as a result a refreshingly different interpretation.
Some sands are course and rough to hold

Hi pantygynt. I hadn't thought about that angle but yes I suppose that also featured. I looked at the sand expance in the image ( beach ) and that created this poem But yes it did fit in neatly with the title too. Either way I am glad you liked my interpretation and Thanks you for your review. As Always Many Cheers Christine😄

Our lives are like the sand in an hour glass it runs through till there is nothing left. Our children will carry our legacy forth when we are not there anymore.

It's more than just "A little philosophical" - it's profoundly meaningful. I especially like the thought that our grains are mixed with those of others who "share our beach" - a wonderful extension of the metaphor. A great response to the challenge.

Hi Mark, Thanks so much for a great review for my challenge poem ( There are many great posts for this one and it is always fun to participate) Yes we must share our grains with our nearest and dearest, but also with others unmet and I feels a few of my grains have found their way to FS and I share them with you also Cheers Christine 😀

Wow! Very deep and insightful, Chris. Made me stop a bit and ponder those stages of life -- and the fact I'm gonna DIE!
Jk.
A sweet poem and I enjoyed it very much!

Chrissy710,
I have to give you the first of my sixes this week. I so enjoyed your poem about the 'grains of sand' you were given at birth. You used them well, shared with friends and family, and lent value to your own life. I enjoyed the philosophical nature as well as a possible example of how others ought to 'guard' the grains they are given.
Nicely done,
:-) Carolyn

Just a beautiful and timeless poem using the metaphor "sand" as the tool of usage. Your poem is colorful, visual, picturesque, and lively, although it deals "some" with death. I love this poem! Tony
