Mother Nature certainly has her way about her, including the offering of snow in the spring. Your lovely poem captures that essence very well.

My goodness! I wouldn't welcome snow in April. We had so much wind, a bush with lovely lavender flowers had almost all the leaves blown off. The weather can be unpredictable this time of year. I was thinking of getting my summer clothes out of storage, but it's been so chilly I'm glad I didn't. It's disheartening, as you write, to see the snow when you want to see the spring flowers. Great comment about warmth laughing through the wind. judi

I read this and had to admire it but laughed at the same time.
We have three inches of snow and some very shell shocked buds.
Nicely done in an easy way.

We can hear a mermaid laugh because she has no difficulty confronting the natural world, while we fall victim to any slight change in the weather.

Seeing the fantasy-within-reality described is one gift of the poetic mind, like the fairy behind the stump, or in this case, the mermaid behind the ice. I don't quite understand it, but it is strangely appealing to the part of me that doesn't need to understand, just experience.

This poem came to me today at work when I looked out the window and saw snow. I was perplexed at the snow storm which fortunately didn't amount to much. Thanks for a great review. Elaine

When I get to your works of art and read them I find how much they have been missed due to the outstanding qualities of your writing. Awesome.

This very much sounds like a description of Minnesota with it's few warm days that tempt us into believing spring is coming and THEN, Snow. I am so glad I now live in Texas. Thank you.

The use of words in this poem are magical..."a mermaid laughs as spring flowers are covered in white". Here it is April in New Jersey and snow is being predicted. The mermaid will be laughing in the morning.
