Very well said and not in the 'preachy tone' I tend to get in on the subject. Nice analogy and ends with a good suggestion. I like how you wrote about this subject, my friend~Debbie

And if you go shopping for a racehorse, a Clydesdale just won't do. My chihuahua would never make it on the Iditarod. We must concentrate on equality in the basic human traits, life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness.
Just fattening my review. I know what you mean...

What a great free verse poem on discrimination by man. I like the easy beginning of this writing. You start with animals such as horses, dogs and cats all being treated similarly by man regardless of their color-loved "A horse is a horse. . .of course." The ending of the poem gets a bit more hard hitting and addresses discrimination between humans. This is really a excellent poem. I love the subject and your free verse is smooth and easy to read. Thanks for sharing. ~Chris

What a wonderful correlation set-up you have presented here!

I'd never actually thought about it before, but who discriminates with cats, dogs, horses, bunnies, etc. because of their color or genealogy?? How is it, when it comes to our fellow man we do?

Excellent observation poem :-)

Fiona, you've hit a universal truth,
too bad some just can't see this... why is that?
I loved this... at first I snickered at this (being as my name is Cat)
*yes, for real, my name is Cat*

Throughout my life I've stroked many a cat
Some were skinny some were fat
Be a cat black white orange or grey
No matter its colour no matter its size
A cat is always a cat
(well... there you go) ;) lol

and then... you logic kicks in....

They all look like people to me

(so true! and here comes the profound!)

We all belong to the one human race
We're all the same within
(BINGO! )
well done!

Well done Fiona!

I admired your freestyle poem with its random rhymes. I almost used Angelheart's artwork for my current post, but it reinforces your theme perfectly. Here's to a "truce" and being "one"! Cheers- Joan

And what is the inspiration for this one? I think you are suppose to note that in your author's notes, part of the rules I think. You might want to check that out. Great insight into the human condition here.

Hi Fiona:)
What a keen observation. I too have often wondered why people differentiate themselves into opposing groups. Is it perhaps our intelligence that allows us humans to seek out others most like ourselves, Surely cats, dogs and horses are too involved with food and procreation to mold themselves along categories,

I wish we humans could just remember that we all fit into one grand category, that works best when working together for common goals and dreams.

Love and Irish Hugs for making me think, but as the French say 'Viva la difference!"
