Pause

Hey D(((((((((((((((... how does one start on pause? By taking a breath, regaining perspective and focus before moving on.
I'm going to start now that I have done the above... as this metaphorical masterpiece sits way down deep with the emotions it stirs within my soul... there's an old proverb, Chinese I believe... fall down seven times, get up eight... something like that. The alliteration beach bones bleached struck a visual chord... and well your resolve, your conclusion is a fighting choice, which for me, I must believe in at all times... as giving, up or in, sits with the maker of the choice.
I truly believe this free verse you have composed for Suse is one of the best I have read... well, that and the timing of the way it affects me in a personal way... yes, that close connection to the words you deliver within such sombre magic.
Now I will leave you with my own special tale... you remember me speaking of the last fury friend I had the pleasure to live with? Her name was Sharka, a bull mastiff x... the anxiety that girl caused... before we came to live in Iluka, we visited and spent holidays here... fishing our favorite past time... we'd find a nice secluded beach with a decent drop off to dip our lines... now the first time this happened, Jade and I were beside ourselves... yeah, and each other... before we knew it Sharka, the 100 lb bridle shark lure was out a good fifty metres from shore and paddling paws going ten to the dozen... I whistled, yelled, screamed, whistled some more then dived in to retrieve her... that's when all the fins started circling her... no, not sharks, but dolphins... she knew they were there before any sight of them... and every time after that, when Sharka hit the water with purpose in b-line for deep water, we knew dolphins were present... even though we never spotted them until she was in amongst them... every time! She loved them, they seemed to love her... no animals or mammals were hurt... well that's what I might have said if I ever filmed it... which of course I didn't. But it will always remain one of the highlights of my memory reel... so, so very special!
I guess seeing that wonderful clip clip flooded all the beauty back.... thank you for both!
With our thoughts we create,
a pledge to life,

Dawn, starts and pause. Beautiful way of saying what happens to many. I sympathise and emphasise with your words, and your beautiful poem, but haven't been there. I love dolphins. They are so life assuring. Love to watch them when we are sailing. All the best. Ulla

A very nice poem for someone I know is struggling. Seems life is just too hard for many of us at times and some of our circumstances just aren't fair. I hope this helps her and is very thoughtful of you to have written. Take care, my friend~Debbie

Great job with the strong imagery in this poem about being at the end of your wits and reaching up for a little assistance from the Father (He's good like that.) and not giving up. Love love love dolphins!! :-)

Comment from Gloria ....
Love the title, Dawn. Pause is terrific. Sometimes it is time to just back on the dolphin again though.
Some excellent imagery throughout your poem, I love the beached, bones bleached. That speaks to me of enormous exhaustion.
Exceptional phrasing here:
Life is all about starts and pauses,
and somehow that last lingering
was an undertow;
sucked me under
which should have been death by drowning:
surprise! Yay!!!
Beautiful presentation too! This is a wonderful piece of art my dear.

From the beach at our beach house we have a contest
about who can get into the water and get to the dolphins
first. They truly are the symbol of joy and hope in the sea.
You chose the right animal to represent the decision for this
person to give it another day. -Bill

If ever I had an extra 6... This was such a moving piem, and the videos are priceless! What a beautiful thing to share!
I especially loved the kitty and dolphin. That's got to be the cutest video ever. Everyone just sort of stopped what they were doing to watch. Awesome.
BTW, Domino sent me, and I'm glad I stopped by,
Rhonda

I admired all your ocean metaphors and indomitable human spirit to fight on. Your alliteration of "b's" added intensity, and I liked the way the second picture brought the dolphin to life in the animation. Here's to happier days ahead! -Joan
