Congratulation on a great write and very nice thought. The light of dawn is special and it's for only the early birds. It is amazing to see the huge amount talent that is exhibited by so many writers. It is really hard to make a choice. Thanks for the write

Dear Authro,
I have reread the rules to the contest to find that less than 17 syllables in the Haiku is permissible. Stunning presentation. All the best in the contest. :0 GracieAnn

The word hazy is so apt to describe early morning light. My favorite time of day with hot coffee, sleepy dogs and a full day ahead. Oh yeah, I am also on the lake, cheers judester

This haiku has a strong warm initial concrete image for me, it brings the instant sensation of a warm season, water, and time of day, sunrise, there's nature and even a hush and sense of peace and quiet,
The satori line does a nice job of redefining the imagery, (one thing I thought was, wow, that's a scene you could just eat right up. A neat image, one you eat up with your eyes. I also get the sense of adding birds to the mix... the first birds that arrive, the ones wake up early enough, they get the worm(in this chase, a visual treat)
A nice strong haiku

I like the image you evoke with your words. I would be able to imagine this scene if there was no picture attached. I like your third line of early bird special. Very nice. Good luck in this contest :)

This haiku, First Morning Light, with its sixteen syllable, certainly captures the essence of this mind-blowing art. This is a powerful image that defines a sunrise.
