Now as you sit upon the porch and gaze out to the sea
Keep searching for my ship's return, one day you will see me.
You'll see me smile,I'll take your hand together we will go
To where life's journey does return, and only we will know.

what a touching poem, pulling at my heart-strings. A most impressive piece, Christine and had I a six, it would be yours.

Hi Chrissy,

This poem is magnificent. You did such a good job putting a story into a piece that has fantastic rhythm and well chosen rhymes. My only complaint that the color text you chose was hard on my eyes.

Hugs,
Lou

Hi Lou Thank you for you great review and rating for my poem, sorry about the colour text I tried to simulate a burning torch colour with the orange font on the grey background, but really appreciate you feedback for next time. Cheers Christine

Hi Christine, this is by far the best of these challenges that I have read to date, your beautiful rhyming story in a poem deserves a ten and if I were allowed I would award one,
The flow of this superior work is truly outstanding, the rhythm is wonderful and the words a cornucopia of beauty, you really are gifted my friend.

Love this sea-faring tale, Christine. It makes me mindful of all the stories I have read about widows watching out to sea; never giving up hope that their lovers will return.

I thought I'd jump over to your page and read your offering.
What a lovely story. I rode the waves with the tossing ship and watched him fall overboard to where he rests on the sea floor. He heard her cry to stay with her and so he does. He waits to take her with him on her final day of life.

Such a smooth easy flowing piece. Excellent rhyming quatrains. I totally enjoyed it.

Thank you Ellen very much ( I miscounted the pumps and have landed on page one which I will not do again, and I feel so humbled to be amongst such fine writers for these challenges and find everyone has written really worthy poetry. so thanks for reading and reviewing my offering also Cheers Christine😀

I almost did that one time. I meant to put in nine and somehow it went to nineteen.
Luckily I didn't have enough pumps and got a message reminding that I was poor. LOL

I like this romantic tale of the fishing boat and fishermen who were overcome by the storm and drowned. Yet he hears his love call to him to come home and he stays on the ocean floor, with her for life, waiting until she can join him and together they will go: "My darling I am coming home, for you just wait and see I didn't drown that fateful day, into the deepest sea. I hear you call me every night, you sit upon the porch And wait for me now to return, I see your burning torch" ..."You'll see me smile, 'll take your hand together we will go
To where life's journey does return, and only we will know." My kind of true love story.

I am out of words! I had to pause and gather myself before writing this. It's beautifully written and very touching story on eternal love! The writing turns around and the first words change meaning by the end in a heartbreaking yet heartfelt way! I loved your response to this image! Very good and heartfelt writing. I was withholding my breath without knowing it for a while during reading!

The sea has claimed many such lives throughout time. I liked your descriptions and imagery of the raging sea and how you remembered a loved one as the ship went down. Excellent rhyming and an enjoyable read. faye
