OH Missy
This is such a bewildering poem and thought
It caused me to think of how different each of us truly is
then how mortal our lives really are. Life is what it is.
The loneliness is real and deep felt and truly deserved the 6th star

Thank you, sweetie for this understanding review. There are a some who are in relationships and are still very much ALONE. Some that don't know when the feelings turned off but they have and now find themselves sharing a life but one with no soul...no love.
Always,
Missy

Hi Missy,
words and thoughts such as these... well, leave me sad and a tad hollow... thinking of all the people out there who don't have that special person to share eternity with...but on the other side of the coin makes me more appreciative of what I have... yes, these words leave their mark in a very lingering and sobering fashion.
Seen as though you write from your heart, I can only assume these thoughts were captured in a real-life moment... and my wish for you if they are, is of course, to find the partner that will cherish every magic moment with you...'cause, you and that giant heart of yours deserves the chance to sing the melodies of true love... yes, a wonderfully constructed and presented poem Missy.

A very very powerful piece that i think, many can relate to! That is your strength, your sheer ability to say what is felt in the deepest parts of our selves, and to say it all in a handful of lines! Great.

Sadly, your poem is a fitting description of the thoughts and conditions of so many hearts and minds. Searching, needing, wanting, but unsure of who or what, and many times why. Great job. :-)

A quiet, reflective poem. Largely this poem works because of the line division, which gives each thought emphasis as it moves towards its conclusion. I like the enjambment of 'ever find me?' after the triplet 'Will the one whose smile I can't live without/ Whose touch drives me wild/ The one whose arms I want to lie in night after night,' which drives the reader forward. There is also an effective contrast between the excitement of the fantasy contained within this triplet and the emptiness of the concluding triplet 'wine glass, my pen/And ... hope.' Finally, the simplicity of the style gives this poem and authentic voice. Well done. I did find it 'pleasing'!!!

Thank you NJK, for this detailed review of my work. I am afraid I have a lot of homework ahead...me and websters. I am not very up to snuff on some of the terms used here. ie: enjambment...triplet. I am learning, however. :) It is part of the reason I came to FanStory.
I am delighted that you found this "pleasing".
Always,
Missy

I think there's real potential in your writing. Enjambment is the use of a line whose sense and/or rhythm continues to the next line. It is sometimes called a 'run-on line'. I look forward to reading more of your poetry in the future.

That "pleases" me :)

Good.

This is a sweet entreaty to fate. The sadness pervades the poem as the voice wonders why the romance she sees all around (even in the glances of lovers) will ever come into her life. In the end there is a resignation in the voice. This will not happen and, in so saying, seeks
solace in the wine and the poetry of passion she can create.
The lines and language in this are a vast improvement. I can't find a thing to add or take which shows you've been either more discerning choice or you've done the editing really well.
Excellent.

Top marks, Missy. God, that sounds condescending. Sorry.

Not my usual style, I hope. But teaching all my life often leaves me saying things I wish I could swallow.

I think we all know how this feels, maybe a cat instead of wine - but small details :)! You conveyed the logins and loneliness really well!
The ending is precious: wine and longing! :)

I just love this Missy. I can just see you on a blanket, sipping wine and writing this as you sit by the ocean. I felt these exact words many times. I always thought I would never find a mate that belongs for me. I guess God finally heard my wish because he did bring a wonderful mate just made for me. We've been together a year now. Keep dreaming and asking. You will get your gift when it's time.
I can just feel your emotions in each line you wrote. Brings back so many memories of me as I wished for someone as I went on long walks. Thank you for sharing this. Speaks to my heart.
Shana :) BTW ... this deserves a ten! :)
