Nicely done, Missy. You've captured the mystery and magic of the written word in this poem. Where would we be without the creative writing of so many great poets and writers?

Miss Miss...

I just love the passion throughout this poem. Girl, that's one thing you have an abundance of: passion.

I'm always a sucker for an ode to the written word, and you frickin nailed it here, but, you did it with all the southern class I've come to expect from you. Your poetry is dumure, but at the same time full of electricity. It's hard to describe. It's you.

One the one hand, you're like a delicate June bug; a firefly, making sundown all the more magical... but then there's the passion I feel emanating from your poems--like this one--where I can sense so much more inside of you just needing an outlet to come out:

'be it words of love of a love gone wrong, we all want to sing along...'

That's just plain beautiful, girlfriend :)

This is a worthy rose for your garden, Miss Miss, and all the more special because I feel the same way.

xoxo
--Sara

G'day Missy. This is a lovely and very true presentation mate. The message is one that is close to my heart, both as a singer and a poet. I like your style and I like the way you think. Well done my friend. Cheers Fez

Hi, Missy. Very well written poetry here, my friend. Solid thinking for anyone...especially one who enjoys reading as much as I do. I love some of these lines like:

"There is such magic in the written word.
Poets and poems from long ago,
Still are able to touch the soul."

Bravo, Bob (I wish I had some sixes left for this one)

And so, to a greater or lesser extent, we who write are all magicians. Of course this includes yourself. If there is magic in the written word then this mus be magic. To put it in another way, is there magic in this poem, because if there is then we can extrapolate into the written word in general?

Well we have four stanzas here, a couplet and three tercets, that point out where this magic may be found. Does that mean though that these words are magical? I think that could well be the case for to point out where magic can be found must surely be magic in itself, expecially when that pointing out is formulated in the the most likely to be magical form, poetry. And if you doubt me take a look at the last line of the second stanza:

"Be it words of love or a love gone wrong...we all want to sing along."

The magic here is not only in the metrical bounce of thelin nor yet in the internal rhyme, but in the way it encapsulates the idea of what it is to be a song.

Yes, the written word picks me up out of the doldrums and allows my mind to venture off to anywhere its words can take me, and feel, hear, smells, and even taste dirty ashes from a campfire. Yep, see what I mean, and all the happenings don't have to be happy ones. Great job. :-)

Hi Justafan. Nice flow and you poem empowers us to be the gauge. I loved the part about the poets from long ago are still able to touch (stir) our soul. Thanks for not limiting the reader to pick up the bible, but any book. Cheers.

I had "stir" but was told I had already used "stirred" earlier.
You will never catch me Bible thumping in any way shape or form :)

After my 1st Arora book was recently published by Cresco Books, I read it to see what they have done with editing etc. I still find it hard to believe I wrote that. It sure is magic :) This is well done.
Take care.
Christelle.

'There is such magic in the written word.' The magic for me is that the refrain you've centred the poem on is in perfect iambic pentameter. It has such a lovely rhythm that it sets off each verse perfectly.
The content of your poem is great. It follows the premise of the refrain and pushes the reader to consider the magic of writing. You canvas music, poetry, and books highlighting the power of the emotional connections.
Loved your rhyming and the piece has a delightful feel to it.
Excellent work.
