LOL Hey, you are not middle aged yet mate!...I'm pushing 47 in September so looking down the barrel of 50 in three years? Pullllllllllllleeeeeeeze.
I hate the thought of it but am becoming a bit more secure in this older slightly more worn skin. Cute poem about insecurities tossed over your left shoulder and embracing new beginnings. You look pretty hot for under 40 mate.
Well done Debs

And the bad news is that the calendar leafs will fly even faster now. I recall thinking I was rather old at forty, but now I long to be that age again. Stay young inside, Debra--no one can take that from you.

Life begins at 40, Debra! Actually, it has changed, I decided it is going to start in 2 years time when I am 70! I can't believe I am going to be that old!! Where did the years go? I wish I was your age again. :( Enjoy your youth, young lady! :) Sandra. xsx

Hi Sandra :) Thank you for your great comments and for reminding me that age is just a number - it's what you make of life that really matters... Much love, Debra x

Hi Debra. I identify with your angst (perhaps) about turning 40. That was a big one for me--remembering I felt my life was over. But--that's not true. You are so young, your life is ahead of you--just enjoy. I'm now 73 and loving it. Many perks come with age. Yes--a new chapter as you suggest--all good. Marilyn/BeasPeas

I love the picture. I love the poem. I used to dread reaching forty. Now, I am amazed to be sixty-five. The older your get, the faster time flies. It makes me sorry to have wasted so much time trying to make it go faster when I was younger. Great work.

Oh, sweet Debra, if only I were forty again! I have found middle age to be the most satisfying, so I think you will be in for a treat as your new chapter begins. And you have three little ones to keep you thinking young. What a nice little 5-7-5 you have here. (And what a picture, by the way, of you and your won in your profile.)
Hugs,
Connie

Hi Connie :)Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. I'm still 39 for another month but I'm trying to embrace the milestone that is '40"....I'm sure I won't mind so much once I get there! Mid-life crisis story... I had my hair cut (much much shorter than my normal trim) today and wore make-up for the first time in ages. When I collected Rebecca from school at lunchtime and she looked at me and said 'why have you got funny hair, Mummy? Put your old hair back on when we get home please' Oh dear! My 'old' hair is in the bin (a half carrier bag full!)
Thank you also for your sweet comment about my profile picture - It was taken 8 years ago at my cousins wedding - Ben was just 16 months old then, and he's almost 10 now!
Much love, Debra :)

your words allow the reader to see and feel you are about to begin a new chapter in your life
good imagery to portray message
good use of enjambment to all flow through verse
good use of "P" consonance
good use of "O" "I" "A" assonance
flows easy to understand
cheers Smoothiecool

Debra. Cute poem, but come on. Middle age. You are not even close to middle age with today's statistics. People are living longer, older when they start and raise their families. Think young, lady. The best years really are ahead of you.
