Merry Christmas, Shirley and may I say, "you certainly captured my heart with this one." I have read your poems, and cherish "Only God Knew" most of all. You write from the heart, so please keep it up. May you be blessed with health and happiness always. May the year 2015, "be your best ever."

An excellent poem about sustaining faith that carried you through in the face of adversity. This poignant poetic portrait of the impoverished little girl is very touching. Thanks for sharing.

This is a distressing post that the author has created with this piece of work. There is hope in this too and I am so happy that you have found solace in your faith. Sorry, no sixes left.

Hi, Shirley,
This is sorrow-filled and beautiful at the same time. In our darkest of hours there can always be hope, as you found in your faith.
Your descriptions really bring out the emotion.
I tell you, I look at this pix and we could have been sisters! (*<*)
Check the beginning of your sentences. Some are lined even but others are indented one or two spaces.
*Happy Holidays*
Cheers & Blessings
Keep Smilin'... Jax (*;*)

God bless you dear Sister. I think God for what He has done for you. The shame was not yours in birth dear lady. I love that Psalm I quoted in my book about how before we were formed in our mother's womb He knew us.
Thanks so much for sharing and I love your picture. I just hope Erin is trusting our Saviour as I know we both are.
God Bless you dear friend. Please pray I am writing a poem related to the awful thing that happened in Sydney yesterday.

You found the strength and determination to overcome all your past ills by reaching out to God. Excellent message and rhyming to convey your thoughts. Cute picture, enjoyable read. Faye

Dear Shirley - so true indeed, we can't determine what life is to be as a child - but we can take all of our hopes and dreams to be all we want to be as we grow. This is a wonderful poem very inspirational to read and ponder. Excellent work my friend.
Thanks for sharing it, happy holidays.
