Yes. Overworked works but overbooked works a tad better. This perfectly says it all. I love the exaggeration that isn't that much of an exaggeration in most of our experiences. Yep, I've had some War and Peace visits for sure. Well done. You are the master of these! mikey

This is a perfect senryu, Shari! Love the satire of your third line and who can't relate to the emotion of your poem? I just suggest to change the title to match your revision. Thanks for the laugh,

This is timely. My sister and her husband just recently went through the medical maze to try and get a referral to Cleveland clinic for a diagnosis. Only took 4 months. Glad it wasn't a brain tumor that could have gone untreated for that period of time.
Don't forget to change the title to overbooked.

Title changed. Four months! That's outrageous. Glad it didn't turn out to be life-threatening. Wonder if you sue in that case?

Maybe ten years ago you could finish War and Peace in a doctor's office. But today, they play the game different. They'll call you into the doctor's office before you can start fidgeting in the waiting room. It's waiting in the examination room is where they stick it to you. One time I had to wait nearly 40 minutes.

You nailed it.

You have more patience than I. After thirty minutes, I'd walk out and demand service!

I've never sat super long in the waiting room, it's once they stick you in the room by yourself and tell you to wait for the doctor when they get you. LOL. Great job

Yes, there's that too, Meghan. What a waste of time unless you use it to catch up on reading--or meditate as I often do.

At least novels beat those horrid popular science and golf magazines most of them stock LOL
I just love the photo, which pairs well with your 5/7/5 poem
good assonance in stock novels
and alliteration in best bet
good satiric commentary on this most annoying practice that has eaten up hours of my life

The selection of magazines seems geared to men. Occasionally, I'll find a People and read all the Hollywood gossip.

Hey Spitfire ...

You nailed this ... Spot On!!!

I'm fortunate that nearly 70 years old I've never been in the hospital, except when I got shot up in Vietnam. I've never taken a chronic medication, never had a surgery and have no aches or pains. On the other hand, my wife has had just about everything in the medical books. We have spent many hours in a doctor's waiting room! And yes, take a book! Those "Golf Digest" and medical themed magazines get old real quick. And most of them are 6 months to a year old.

Loved it! My wife and I can relate. TAKE A BOOK!!!!

You couldn't have said this any better ... nice!

Alan

Aren't you the lucky one to be in such great shape. Your wife is lucky too because you're healthy enough to take care of you. I hear you about the magazines! Thanks for the wonderful review.

You are welcome! Isn't it wonderful those so few words can move one's emotions? But, only if they are well-written, like this one.

Yes, I am very fortunate! My wife had life-saving surgery two years ago and she is actually healthier now than she was prior to the surgery. She still has significant issues, but fewer of them.

    Wishing you well.

Dear Shari - sure does seem like the waiting rooms are filling up faster than they empty. Great wit with Leo's book, you cracked another one my friend.
Thanks for sharing.

You've got that right, Spitfire! I've read War & Peace twice; once as a book report for school, and another recently just for pure enlightenment and entertainment. It took me five months to read this last time, and I am a very fast and comprehensive reader!

Perfect choice for those long, arduous waits in the doctor's office waiting rooms. As slow as some of them are, it is a wonder we aren't able to finish the hefty novel.~Dean

This is humorous, the waiting time in doctor's offices is often long and one could read a very long novel. Excellent poetic form that is true to life.

Yes, I always take a book with me and usually cover at least fifty pages.
