Crikey - I'll never think of Jack and
Jill as a nursery rhyme again --- or
go near a well!!

I don't know how missed this one - I've only just come across it - must have been a "blank" contest

Yep, it was a blind contest entry, Margaret. But, hey, better late than never, right, LOL?

Thanks for having a go at it. Much obliged. :)

Hey,

Another one from before my time!
This is a great little tale, and in only 50 words too. very impressive. Poor Jill? Sod that... poor Jack, I say.

Nicely penned.

Hi my friend. Congrats on winning a place in this contest. (It's hard to do, isn't it?) I like the whole idea...Clever...as you always are. Ever here this: "Jack and Jill went up the hill...each with a buck and a quarter. Jill came down with two and a half...you know they didn't go up for water.

See ya soon, pardner. Bob

What a take on the beloved story. I enjoyed your version much better! You put something on my mind by asking the question, "Haven't you ever wondered?" & silenced them by the conclusion given. Nicely composed, proving much can be done w/ good writing & a great imagination! Smiles ;) CC

Thanks for the screams. I never did wonder, but now I know anyway and I love it. Everything you write is well written; it's scary.

Well, I never thought about what happened to Jack after he broke his crown. This is an interesting tale. I will have to save it for Halloween. Great job.

Thanks for digging this one up, dusting it off, and digging in, JM. I really appreciate you giving me your opinions on this shortie. I have always wondered to what happened to both Jack and Jill. In my world, at least, I guess I now know, LOL. :]

Thanks so much again, my friend. I truly appreciate it!

Are you going to tell us what happened to Jill after she met up with Jack? :-)
reply by the author on 31-Jul-2014
Well I heard she's up to her neck with problems, mired in a very deep, dark situation. But, you know how rumors go...heh-heh

Yikes! I just swallowed my gum. LOL. Great way to spice up an old tale. I must admit that the original just makes me sad at Jack's clumsy waste of a bucket of good water. This however, is a pleasing end at least.

OMG Dean. I didn't know you did a take on Jack and Jill. I just posted a fun poem of Jack and Jill. I do so much serious stuff I want to do something lighthearted and fun.But some are offended. Some people on here don't know to lightened up. Anyway congratulation on being a runner-up.

I did wonder when I read the sad news years ago that Jack broke his crown. I had assumed he died of his injuries, but I didn't think that he fell down the well. Anything's possible, and things do get lost in the re-telling of nursery rhymes, you just might be right on the money. Congrats on your second place finish. I'm proud of you!
Rose.
