Thank you very much for posting this poem .i enjoy reading spiritual stories and every religion has similar stories.this was a smoothly flowing story poem. though Jonah disobeyed Him, he repented later and was willing to sacrifice himself to save others.

Hi Carolyn, running late again sweets....got to catch back up...such a wonderful poem for a child and an adult to learn from...and I love your author notes...not sure about the part of not giving us more than we can handle....I think we do get to much at times...But He is a wonderful God...I love your poem and your picture...Luff Linda xxoo

For your poem and message is so on point I play this role with my grand children letting them know what they are doing to their mother is wrong and if they don't change there is a price to pay. Yet I let them know I love them, any way.

this is very well written carolyn, you did an excellent job writing this couplet poem about the book of jonah==great encapsulation of it. did you know that the apostle paul's mother or father one dwelled in ninevah? because it was saved, he was born and wrote so many books of the bible.

I've got a cough that keeps hanging on. I was really sick on Tues, and I had to keep running to the bathroom. I was a little better today, but after I watched my great-great-grandson as both parents were working, I went to sleep for several hours.
I have so many things wrong with me it isn't funny. I think my cough comes from being allergic to 19 different things. I went for treatments once a week for a year and was supposed to just go once a month for the next three or four years, but she said I'd still have to go every week, so I just quit. It didn't seem to be helping me at all. I suppose I should have stuck with it.

Yes, it was Dylan whom I watched yesterday and am supposed to watch today, but he hasn't come over yet. His dad might work in the afternoon.

You seem to be starting a series of Bible stories. That should be easy to sell. Smart woman. I knew about Jonah and the whale but am embarrassed to say I didn't know the reason or the outcome. I'm sure I read of it in a children's illustrated Bible book eons ago.

Hi there, the book of Jonah (a minor prophet) in the old testament is very short. The poem is closely written to the story. God had decided that the city of Nineveh was very wicked and had decided to destroy it. But, he told Jonah that He wanted him to warn them, preach to them and give them a chance to change their ways. Jonah did not want to go. The running away, being swallowed by a large fish, being vomited onto land and going to Nineveh is the body of the book. When Jonah told them that if they didn't change, they would be overthrown, (destroyed) in forty days, they listened and obeyed. They wore sackcloth and ashes to demonstrate their repentance. A rather comical occurrence happened after that, Jonah got mad... I am thinking of a follow up poem, so I won't tell all. So glad this interested you, and thanks for the encouragement for the book.
