What a lovely poem, had to read it twice to be sure I got the story. Thank you for sharing, good luck in the contest. A fine entry you offer here.

The poor souls. They fell in love by the waves and it's only fitting that she should part with him there. I don't know much about poems, though I've read excellent examples on this site. This one seems to follow the rondeau rule.

Great poem, Sharyn. Love the last verse when you cast a lover's ashes into the tradewinds, very nice. Like it was their special place once and now returned to bless one of them passing.

strong rhymes in good rondeau form
nice alliteration in sing through silken
vivid detail of setting with good sensory appeal
lovely alliteration in soft-spun sand/smile/slide
more good alliteration follows
good use of enjambment to create good flow
what a poignant closing as we learn the speaker is tossing her beloved ashes into the ocean where they spent so much loving time together :-)
I almost forgot to say I really like your choice of refrain line Brooke

It seems like you're a pro at writing a rondeau even if it is your first attempt. :) I truly loved your poem. It is worthy of a six. Good luck in the contest!

I like your rondeau, as trade winds sing, and can imagine them blowing across my face standing on the beach, one of my favourite places to be.
Excellent!
Cheers,
DW
