Yes Brooke, the Earth is, truly, a living organism in her-self. And, as you say, despite the almost unbeliveable strength mothers can show, there is a limit, unless you treat her with the outmost respect, love and tenderness; and work with her; at her side. And as with all women, approach he with a sense of courtesy.

On this subject, we did a costing exercise at work today to find out the cost of sending out 8,000 two-page letters. To my surprise the cost of the paper, ie 16,000 sheets, was only around £60, which seemed incredibly cheap to me. I wonder if it were priced higher, whether it would be more of a deterrent to use it carelessly, rather than relying on recycling campaigns?
The future is, indeed, scary.

Sally, thank you so very much :-) I remember when I worked at the American Friends Service Committee back in the day when memos were on paper, not emailed. There were three of us in my department, in two modest offices right next to each other. We would get memos about things like a change in the soda vending machine - all three of us! Heck, the secretary and I had desks right next to each other, and Jerry, the department head, was right next door. We couldn't pass such inconsequential memos around to each other? You're right, something needs to be done that has a little logic to it :-) Brooke

Nicely put, I think a part of the problem is our species simply will not control our numbers.
Secondly, of course, if we will live in flood plains, along earthquake prone faults, in areas where tsunamis are regular features ... Yup, nature can bite hard.

Population numbers are a huge problem, and a major factor in the 'poverty' of many countries. Glad I could raise a smile with my satire.
