You have a beautifully rhythmic piece here.
I, unlike most enjoy the slower winter's pace.
Sitting by the fireplace suits me just fine.
You have even managed to create a lovely scene
for her and I personally like it. Thanks!

Congratulations on a well deserved win. As I read I could have sworn you are writing about Louisiana weather. Hot flashes and cold chills here -- I think it is weather hormonal changes.

Thank you so much Jean. I lived in Louisiana for 18 years also Mississippi and now Tennessee. It is definitely Southern weather that I had in mine. I appreciate the review and the congratulations. I thought there were a lot of good entries and was a bit surprised at the win.

Many kudos for winning the personification contest about winning. Your poem certainly deserved to win with its sublime, rhyming quatrains. I liked your seeing winter as female, and not the usual "Old Man" and focusing on the contrasts. I'm with you, I prefer spring and fall. Hugs and stay warm- Joan

Thank you so much for the review, the comments and congratulation. It is women that usually get the reputation of being fickle. I wasn't sure I wanted to call her a Miss because she is quite old. LOL.

Good point about fickleness--and the Miss worked too. Again, congratulations! -Joan

I agree with you whole heartedly. I like the look of new fallen snow as long as I can just look. I hate the chill of winter and the slush and mud when the snow melts.
I am a summer girl. I love the sun and the warm weather. Nice poem. You deserved to win. Nancy

I love the picture. I love the poem. Miss Winter is indeed a fickle lass. She plays her tricks in many ways. When she finds us having too much fun in the snow she will start a melt down. Great work.

Poet,
Your Personification of Winter is wonderfully written with terrific imagery painted by your pen.
The art work you used is stunning.
In your poem you used excellent personification.
Your rhyme and meter are great.
In your poem you used very fine alliteration.
You also used very good metaphors: Confusion is her game, sense the warmth, sunshine of her smile, paints the landscape white. her chilling bite, love to see her come & endure her whims."
I enjoyed your first stanza:
Winter is a fickle lady.
Confusion is her game.
Some days, she's wild and blustery,
and other days she's tame.
I adore your poem making Winter a woman.
I wish you good luck in the contest.
I'd recommend your charming poem to other reviewers.
Keep on writing creative poetry,
Please have a nice day,
Missy.

This beautifully-fashioned poem has enormous charm. you capture the whims of winter very cleverly, and evoke the scenes and sensations with grace and concision.

Thank you so much for the review and the comments. The photograph of the trees was taken in my yard. We usually see more of the milder side of winter but this was taken when she was in her frigid mood.
