I think we find a lot of our lives being there for people in their time of need- but it does make us wonder. Will they miss us if we are gone? Who will feel pain at our loss? I've always been a big believer that everything happens for a reason, but I've come to know that it's always the best of us that go too soon. And those who do good in life will have happiness and luck passed to them and their loved ones. So anything we can do to help out others will surely be rewarded for in the end, even if we choose to do so out of the kindness of our hearts.
I enjoyed this poem very much- it made me think about the places our minds travel in spite of everything we do.
Fantasically crafted... another poem without consistent rhyme and yet it has a powerful effect anyway!
Thanks for sharing,
October

Thank you so much for your wonderful review October. Glad you enjoyed it. It's something to ponder but not dwell on I think. I too believe everything happens for a reason. :) Jaq x
Comment from Sally Carter
Jaq, I can identify with this! I often wonder if I have done enough, was a good enough Mum and all that stuff. Suddenly the time feels short to make good the deficiencies.
In most cases I believe the reality is that the small hole we leave (no pun intended there) is rapidly filled in people's memory with new faces, new events, new dramas. I was going to say hopefully our special people will mourn our absence, but is that a good thing to wish? All I can say is you are not alone in thinking about this on a long night.
My only suggestion is that it if I am reading the sense right, it should be "day's" darkness. Darkness of the day?
A pleasure, albeit a slightly melancholy one, to read.
Yours,
Sally

This is a very nice and thought provoking poem. To me, would it matter if someone weeps at your grave? Once your gone you will not know. I am not being buried thus no one can weep, for there is no grave. But your words in your poem do represent another aspect. Thus it is beautiful. Did you give enough to others. What I like is the questions in your poem which provokes the reader to think beyond.

Comment from Gungalo
Well Jaq, it really makes no difference who does or does not weep at your grave for you won't know anything about it. It's sad but true. Therefor, live your life to the best possible way and rejoice in the fact you have tried. This was a pretty neat little free verse.

Blimey Jaq
You were in a sombre mood last night.
A lovely poem but I think you need some happy juice LOL.
I try not to think of who will be at mine, all I can say is it will not be my problem or worry. I would get something amusing on my gravestone like 'Look you buggers let me out a joke is a joke' something along those lines. So at least the suprise of reading my stone would make readers of it a little less sad.
A really sentimental poem.
Kind Regards
Spike

This is deeply introspective Jaq and evokes a really air of melancholy. We all have these thoughts from time to time, I know I do. Your piece has great impact in its simplicity but is profound in its thought provoking theme and the questions it poses. Good alliteration in ' day's darkness dims'- apostrophe in day's-

Will anyone weep at my grave ? The eternal question. Very introspective work loaded with philosophical thinking. Simple yet profound lines. Enjoyed reading it.
