Effective use of natural-sounding dialogued
you also describe non-verbal communication well, things like when Lisa gives a small apologetic smile
What a dramatic ending with Nick poised to attack her yet again... Brooke

Firstly, I am making more than 2 cents for this chapter. I feel rich! ;-)
Now, I must tell you, I think she should pick Richard, but I'm not the author...
What a brilliant chapter. All three of the men in her life, even though I could have dealr without Freak Boy in the back seat.
Will someone please just put a bullet through his eyes and a stake through his heart for good measure?
Why did they think a psychopath would just drop the mattsr? I don't think they're capable of letting go.
I am starting to experience withdrawal tremors, knowing that there are only a few more chapters. :-(

Thank you so much for your review, Margaret. Yes, poor Lisa does seem to get into a few scrapes as far as the men in her life are concerned! Only two chapters after this one. Phew! Alexis x

Hello Alexis,
Once again you send me into a tizzy at the end wondering what the hey is going on. Lisa is one troubled young woman. Is she blonde? I have a daughter that acted the same way at that age. Keep it coming

Don't worry, if you check back, she didn't end up sleeping with Richard, she loved Alan too much. Thank you so much for your review. Alexis x

Yikes, he's a nightmare, that Nick. I know these kinds of stories are so much like the story of life itself. First you get a taste of the sweetness of love, then obstacles are presented and you must overcome them before you get to taste the fullness of love again. Great story telling!
Just one little oops to correct, "he prosecution knew that the defence" (defense) is the usual way, but it just could be our American spelling.
Love to you...Lisa

Thank you so much for this great review and my apologies for taking so long to get back to you. I've been waking up to dozens of reviews every morning, and I like to answer each one individually and make any corrections as I go. I'm sure your right about the word defence, I'll check into it. Although the outcome had been a disaster, she felt strangely at peace, and she lay on the bed trying to work out her feelings./This great, because while others might question that result, I believe you and I know how that feels exactly the way you wrote it. Life goes on if you let it.----He was standing with his hand raised/Remember, use an active voice--He stood----Nick's breath warmed the side of her face/What a great hook----Another unexpected turn of events. I should call you the changling.----Wow! FS finally let me give you an overdue six. I'd give you a couple, but no can do. I can't ever remember reading a book that has as many twists chapter after chapter.

Holy COW!!! I KNEW Nick wouldn't give up that easy!!!!!!!! Ggggrrrrrr. This man needs to D-I-E! :-)!
I was relieved that she and Richard didn't do anything! And thrilled that she dialed Alan's phone so... I wonder what's going to happen next? Off to see....

Comment from Roberta Joan Jensen
Having confirmed that Lisa was okay, he left the door ajar and went to advise the office. --- What office? Probably advised the judge.
"I'm sorry[,] Richard[.] I've let everyone down[,]" she said[] as the horrible nightmare of the dismissed case against Nick came flooding back to her.
"No you didn't, Lisa[. E]verything was stacked against you. The prosecution knew that the defence had the facts concerning the two previous allegations,
"Lisa was trying to protect me after Liam tried to rape her[] because I beat the shit out of him, and we thought I might end up getting arrested.
"Have a good life, Lisa[.] Y]ou deserve it,["] he added gently[] before slowly turning around and walking away.
From now on[,] she was going to live life to the full[est] and put
he'd sworn her to secrecy[.]
"Alan isn't back with Carla[. T]hey split up shortly after he came out of hospital last year.
Richard and Karen had gone for a dance[,] and as she watched them[,] she felt [like] such a fool.
"Thank you for a great time tonight, Richard[.] I haven't enjoyed myself so much for a long, long time,["]
she had frozen momentarily, and he had seen the fear in her eyes. --- "momentarily" means she got over it and they had sex. I think I'd delete that word.
Lisa nearly drove the car off the road when she heard Nick's voice coming from the back of the car. The sea of boxes and black plastic bags which had
represented her ten months at the school erupted in the back seat and she saw Nick's face in the rear view mirror. She felt the cold feel of steel against
the back of her neck, as Nick's breath warmed the side of her face...
I love this twist. I was nnot expecting this, and I should have. Humiliating Lisa in court wasn't enough. He'd still want his pound of flesh.
