I can relate! Just popped in after weeks offsite--hope you are on the mend and enjoying chocolate bars! Cute story, well told. Looking forward to "Yesterday."

I'm good. Just hanging there wasting time on on line. I hope you are okay.

Your story is one that a lot of us can relate to. I don't know how often I have started a diet and than fallen off the wagon. Your story is cute ant well-written. Best of luck in the contest.

This is a delightful story and it gave me a good laugh. I can imagine a five year old testing her willpower. Seventeen days isn't bad. At least you now know the limits of your willpower. I've still to figure mine out, but it's not long. Good job with this.

Willpower does have a limit, and you learned about it at a very early age. Your story is enjoyable and fun to read, especially the part about your father bringing a candy bar home each day. What child wouldn't love that? It's interesting that when young girls begin thinking about how they look, fattening candy bars are no longer important. A great memory. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you for a great review. I'm glad you found it fun to read. I really looked forward to those treats. It was the highlight of the day when Dad came home from work. He usually brought the evening paper so I had the funny to look at too. LOL.

I enjoyed this well written story very much, partly because I identified with it - not the will power part, but the sweet tooth part. My family laughed for years after my brother got a spanking because it was thought he ate the fudge cooling on the counter--when it was I who had. He didn't tell.

Thank you Verna. It sound like you had a gem of a brother who didn't tell on you. My sweet tooth had a rest fo a while but unfortunately it wasn't forever. It came back as strong as ever.

What a remarkable five-year-old!! I can't imagine a child that young having that much will power to wait for that long and not consume those candies right away! Thanks for sharing this cute story!

Thank you Helen. I was a pretty determined little girl. I saved my money people gave me toward something I really wanted instead of spending it just because I could.

Yes indeed, I ascertained at an early age that I could apply, like you, determination and willpower for awhile, but unlike Jesus who overcome temptation for our collective selves, I wasn't much like Him at all, but still I stopped smoking, gambling and drinking, and have never gone back atall, so it is possible, beautifully written, blessings Beth, Roy

That's what I did like full story and I enjoyed every minute of it. When you talked about the candy bars I remember as a child getting a baby Ruth candy bar for just five cents. Today that same candy bar I'm sure it will sell for a dollar. If they even make those baby Ruth anymore I do not know. One of my favorite cookies as a kid was making baby Ruth cookies with my grandmother. She got baby Ruth cookies and did like a toll House cookie dough and cut up the baby Ruth cookies and put a minute and if they were absolutely delicious. Patricia.

Thank you, Patricia. Those nickle candies were really big and cheap compared with today. I'm glad this brings back memories for you.

This work has reached the exceptional level

I have a daughter which on Fridays we always made it to the Dairy Queen weight problems quickly put a stop to it on my part but she is still larger than she needs to be. I can truly understand this writing. Good one, Beth.

Thank you Chuck. I'm glad one of daughters goes out with you on a regular basis. I have daughter I have a regular date with on Tuesday and my son and I always do something together on Thursday. The other two work out time around their schedules. I at least talk to them every week. I appareciate the six stars.

This was a fun story from your life. I don't think my willpower would even have lasted as long as yours. :) I especially loved that last sentence. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.
