I really do like the picture which corrleates to the writing and how you went from on top of the christmas tree talking about the angel and so on. I really like how you used the alphabet as well from a-z I probably would of been lost trying to make it soung good.

Merry Christmas

Clean acrostic, no spags I could find. Another fine poem, adewpearl.

These two lines flow very well:
"Q is for the quietude which reigned that Holy night
R is for the rapture felt when God sent down His Light."

OK,OK, I understand you write in many forms, as do I, but I don't believe I have yet to see a Vers beaucoup (that's pronounced "ver, as in Verne, bow, as in "and arrow", and coo, as in the sound a dove makes." Its not that Vers whatsa-thingy.
Anyway, now that THAT'S cleared up, (lol)
I never expect less than excellent from you Brooke, and you never let me down.

"Methinks that thou shoudst try this form,
The labor of wouldst keep thee warm!"
(just made that up 4 u )

Merry Christmas Brooke,
Curt

Curt, Happy Christmas Eve - I will keep the Vers beaucoup in mind as I've read some really good ones - I've just never had the inspiration for a theme that goes with all the internal rhyming. It's simply lack of a good idea! Brooke :-)

Are you kidding? I write about politics, comedy, (have you read nuts and butts?) you name it, its all good. Come on, get your toes wet! lol

adewpearl,

Your arrangement looks very original fir this type of poem. The flow is smooth. The rhyming is well done. The theme flows all through the poem.

It is perfectly written and completely error free.

I look forward to seeing you again.

Love you,

Oatmeal

All I can say is wow! You have me speechless. What a poem.
You did excellent work here with the entire alphabet and the Christmas message comes through. Marvelous writing.

Excellent acrostic poem, Brooke. I'm not normally a fan of acrostic poems (especially alphabet ones) because they can feel forced, but this is really good. I think you managed to fit in a great deal of theological depth in just twenty-six lines: Christ's birth/life/death/resurrection, God's power over creation, the prophecies regarding Emmanuel that were fulfilled in Christ, the way we can be saved and the way we can praise him. Wow.

My favorite lines:
I is for the great "I am," Divinity on Earth (Theologically deep...Jesus as fully God and fully man. We'll never fully understand that one here on earth, will we?)
Z is for the zest with which our Hallelujahs raise.
(Nice use of the word "zest" especially as the "z" sound is repeated at the end of the line with the "s" in "raise." Gives a good sense of closure to the poem.)

As always, excellent work. :) LK

Thank you, LK - I've never thought of alphabet poems as acrostics. I love alphabet books. I truly appreciate your lovely and thoughtful comments. Brooke :-)
