I read through this Halloween poem and it struck a cord in me. The flow and chill and imagery is really strong. I had to give it six stars, that it didn't have six stars boggled my mind.

Hi Brooke Oh! really scary. Rhyming is great and the fifteen line poem reads with lots of flow. The selection of artwork went well with the poem. Cheers Gaye

Those "seers" sure can chill a soul!
I enjoyed this poem of shivery, impending
doom; hopefiully, the next day provided a
more hopeful light and refreshing day!

A moving piece, my friend. As we grow older we all learn to fear death, even if only a little. It is the one thing guaranteed to us, the one thing no one can take away. It is our only certainty.
Now you've got me scared! :o)

I am not much for Hallowe'en, but this was such a well crafted read that I could not resist!
You have succeeded in creating a chilling tale in a very short poem, very well done Brooke :)

Well, I for one have never really considered Halloween very spooky--considering that my family dresses up as victorious saints when we go trick-or-treating! I find it rather hard to be frightened when I've got lance in my hand...especially when it's daylight. (I was St. Joan of Arc this year.) Great poem, though. Very good description and flow. I really enjoyed it.

It's nice to see such a well turned out rondeau, Brooke, a form I've not yet assayed. You know, it's exciting to see you flaunt it, because you've certainly got it, lady. Peter

I might just surprise you. I'll take that as encouragement.
-
Of course it is encouragement - and as you are already a fine writer of triolets, this should come to you naturally! :-)
-
Just noticed: I should have said 'essayed'. Wouldn't have minded you pointing it out but I know it's against your principles.

Hey, a good writer knows to write with what you feel so let the "spirit" move you. I enjoyed this piece. It flowed well, the description was spot on. Excellent job.

This is excellent, my friend. Maybe you should write horror as you do it so well. I like a good horror poem and this is certainly one of them. Good job.
