This is a very passionate poem thst is expressed by lovers, at least one to the other. I am a bit confused here. I have counted quite a bit more than 31 syllables. I respect that you know more about this style than most. I am following your posted tanka rule. Please clarify. It is a beautiful poem in picture and verse.

First tanka = 3/4/4/7/7=25
Second tanka = 3/5/6/5/6=25
They are both less than 31 syllables

This one is so beautiful, I'm going to print it out and give it to my husband because every month, on the 26th, we celebrate the anniversary of the day we had our first day, which was July 26, 1999. We NEVER miss a month because it's our guaranteed holiday. So thank you, Gypsy. Your timing could NOT have been more perfect! xoxoxox

This is a lovely tanka poem. Your poems all shine with some new twist on passion or some other subject. Might I suggest using (shine) instead of "grow" because suns shine as does passion.
Anyway, this is a splendid poem.

You always do passionate romantic poems so well. The "hundred splendid suns" sounds familiar . There's a Afghan novelist who wrote "A Thousand Splendid Suns" but it was rather depressing.
