This was very well done, you have a great way of telling the story, I always want to hear more, he was put to no good, luckily you fought, no errors noted.

This story, The Year 1991 and Thereafter, seemed like you came to that time in life where being a girl meant being a woman in the eyes of people like Chuck.

Thank you, Bill. I may have started to look a little like one but I didn't feel like one at that point. Thanks for the review.

I heard that in the 50s parents let the kids spend all day playing and never worried. Stranger danger didn't exist and serial killers were a rare thing. Now you can't let the kids out of your sight. I grew up in the 60s in Spain. It was the same there.

I was scared for you. I was molested as a child and your story brought some memories.. but that is long gone.

I enjoyed your story. I look forward to more chapters.

Thank you for becoming my fan and for the nice review on my story. I lived out from town on acreage, but no one worried as much about their children no matter where they lived back then. I couldn't be gone for too many hours without Mom having an idea where I was. In the country there is the danger of snakes, and like in my story, neighbor boys.

You were a wise little girl at age 13. You did not like Chuck, and knew not to go into the woods with him. Your mother seemed to always want things to be peaceful, while your dad faced reality.

I remember the House of Wax. They gave you 3D glasses to watch the movie. I also remember the Weekly Reader. I'm amazed at your memory. I never would have thought of those two things again in life. I'm enjoying your stories because you recall many details that tweak my memory.

Thank you. I think you have it right. My wanted to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but Dad was a realist and I'm afraid I am as well.

My first reaction to your neighbor's invitation was that he planned to rape you. When you mentioned he was anxious to get married, I thought again he was eager to find out about sex. Did you ever follow up on how he turned out?

Thank you for the review. I didn't trust him, and I think he might have raped me if I hadn't fought so hard. I was amazed that he stayed married to the same girl. I saw them both at my mother's funeral. He died shortly after of a heart condition.

You were wise to want to steer clear of this guy. No telling what might have happened if you hadn't been able to get back to the house. If someone gives off bad vibes like this boy, you probably should trust them. Just being a neighbor doesn't mean they're going to be good people. I wonderhow the marriage turned out. This guy sounds like he's a liar in addtion to his other faults. Interesting details about what life was like at that time. I don't think we're as trusting now. judi

Thank you, Judi, He was never so one I liked being around because he bragged and lied about everything. I didn't realize he be so dangerous though. I glad I refused to go in the wood with him.

I enjoyed this story about your childhood. It was also educational. I had never seen chinquapin trees, so I had to look them up. That's my new word of the day. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I'm so glad you like my story. Chinquapins trees have nut that look and taste like small chestnuts, but I've not seen any since I was very young.

I guess your mom was too innocent to think anything bad about Chuck. I'm so impressed that even at that young age you knew something was not right about that boy. It was smart to avoid going into the woods with him.

In some ways Mom was to naive and trusting. She wanted to believe the best about everyone. I never trusted him. I he lied as much as Trump does trying make out like he was smart but I didn't realize he would actually try what he did.

I am enjoying your stories about growing up in the South and the old time traditions I wish were still in place. This chapter kept my attention, totally, and I enjoyed relating to different points. Well done, Beth!

Thank you for sharing. I am glad you were able to fight off and scream loud enough that Chuck wasn't able to do anything else. I always enjoy reading your memoirs.

Thank you, Barbara, I didn't realize I would get into a situation like that. I'm glad I didn't go back into the woods with him. I appreciate the review.
