A fitting salute and tip of the hat to the glorious art of ballet. The graceful movements that are both magical and musical. The discipline that is required to master this beautiful art form is at least as demanding as any training for sport or training for war.

Very inspiring poem full of lovely details, portraying the magic of ballet: i can almost imagine the voluptuousness and sumptuousness of a Mariinsky theatre ballet dream show,
Thanks a million,
God bless You
Sarah

Very nice poetry. Not a poet myself, I am intrigued by any and all forms to improve what dabbling I attempt. Well done. I could see and feel their dancing, something we try to achieve in all our writing. I enjoyed this piece. Thanks for sharing it and have a wonderful day. Be well.

Hi Patrick,
You are a brilliant writer, my friend! This poem was a great free verse. It was whimsical, fun, and deeply moving.
The form was great and helped us picture the subject.

Well done, and welcome to the site!!

Beautifully written, formatted and illustrated! I especially loved the cadence of this poem and it's spoken meter and rhyme scheme which created a fluidity of artistic expression. The visualization of these dancers is vivid and "on pointe" and through their performance, the reader is taken on a journey through Russian geography, history and culture. Great usage of the page spacing, format and font styling.

Wow, this poem just woke me up. I am so glad I have a six-star rating left to give. Nice combination of form and illustration. I had not heard of Coryphees before, and a couple of other words in there, too. Nice share.

I have a talented dancing granddaughter, and a professional acting/musician 12 year old grandson. Two daughters, who were dancers growing up, I wrote all the music and skits for a gospel performing band, I'm Australian, but well travelled, my elder daughter lived in New York for four years with husband, Nick, and three grandsons, we visited every year for those four years they were there.
I read Pam's part-biographical account of your life, particularly the Australian bit. Interesting excerpt. Well done, you think outside the box, which writing has a propensity to do, blessings Roy

Thank you so much for the review, Roy! I lived in a Queensland region called the Tablelands, about an hour inland from Cairns, town called Atherton. Thanks also for reading Pam's interview! Talk to you again soon!

I keep trying to post my comments but the site won't let me. I will just post this and see if it takes so that you at least get credit for the review.

You contain so much energy and momentum in this evocative ballet. I like the river/water imagery and other worldly influence that delves ever deeper into this dramatic scene in which I can practically hear the pounding accompaniment before it fades away into the icy freeze. A clever play on the word 'rime.' I assume the reduced size of the font is to reflect the diminishing movement of the dance. This is a very pleasing post, Patrick. Thank you so much. Debbie

Thank you Debbie! Yeah, I played around quite a bit with the formatting trying to insinuate some of the crescendoes and decrescendoes that would occur in the ballet's music. And you know what, I never considered the fact that "rime" could imply its homophone "rhyme." I appreciate you picking up on that! 😊

You're welcome, Patrick! But you should never 'admit' you didn't consider the homophone - of course you did:))

Okay, in that case, I did! 🤣

You never cease to amaze me, Patrick, You are capable of taking the reader deep into the bowels of horror and then flip the switch and have us enjoying a graceful ballet. You are an expert at your skills. Well done.
