I agree with you on this; however, I think the second attempt was better defended than the first. Although the Secret Service Agent shot first, they need to expand their perimeter. I don't envy their job. With the skill and weaponry out there, they have a near impossible task and thankless job. It's like terrorism - they must be right every time. The sniper has to be right only once. Thanks for sharing this and good luck in the contest.

You're welcome and have a wonderful day.

I enjoyed your entry and share with you the concerns of the rooftop event. The second, however, I would not label an assassination 'attempt'. The man did not 'attempt' anything. He just laid in wait. The system worked perfectly, except for the Sec Service guy shooting but missing. Why didn't he walkie-talkie to get someone behind the man, leaving Trump in safety? (before warning him with wild shots)

Makes you wonder what he was he doing waiting for 12 hours? A quick perimeter search would had deter that.

Yes, as an outsider who knows nothing about the Secret Service or any level of law enforcement. I've certainly questioned how the first assassination attempt ever took place since the culprit was spotted an hour before or better. And since, there hasn't been more detailed security procedures to keep a Presidential candidate safe. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I think many people are shocked and surprised, but when you consider the very public nature of politicians, especially those running for President with all the public events, and thousands of (free) people constantly around them. Protecting them 24/7 must be a daunting task

Thank you for your review. Yes, it is a daunting task, but they could have use drones to patrol the perimeter. Unacceptable.

Thank you for your review. It is scary, our officials should not be targets.

It's interesting that you find the problem is with the secret service. In my opinion, that of an ordinary American Citizen, I find it most shocking that a man interested in leading this country, get's away with the kind of ugly comments he enjoys using. Of course freedom of speech allows for that, but in fairness to the secret service personal, what exactly do you want them to do!...Are they to have men following specific candidates around all the time, wherever they go...I would think the candidates should think about their own safety, and have their own personal security guards with them.
Frankly, I'm not at all surprised by what is happening here...
Unfortunately, the use of high powered rifles, along with the ugly words, name calling, lies, misinformation, all fit into the violence that has become a way of life for this country, and until those in authority stop accepting, and excusing any and all of this, its not going to stop...Shocking, please, not at all to me...
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, but you're expecting common sense, where there is none...My sincere concern, at the moment, is for those people that are being demonized by those that know they are lying about them...The very idea that parents must worry about their children, and people are fearing for their own safety, because of the lies that one candidate is spouting is what I find "shocking, and "mind-boggling"...
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for your review. I was speaking from a safety and security concern. This is about the safety of our candiates. I agree with you that one must watch what they say in public. However, there is no place for lack of security and safety of our officials.
-
Security of candidates!
What about the security of the people, those that have nothing to do with running for office...
Neither is there any reason why our children should have to deal with the kind of violence that lies and misinformation do cause.
Their lives are just as important to me as is the life of any candidate!
Don't the candidates have some responsibility for their own safety?
Especially when they are part of the reason so much more security, is needed...
I guess we'll just have to have a difference of opinion, I believe in the lives of All people...not just that of an official. You're certain entitled to yours, as for me, when I watch those running for office, reciting the harsh lies, I'm not surprised when ugly things happen...It's not security that's the problem...to me its the candidates...Good Luck in the contest!

Okay, i suppose the narrative would be different if the sttempts had been on a different candiate. Thank you for your review.

Your welcome, but No the comments
would not have been any different, right is right, and wrong is wrong, no matter who speaks..That's what happening here now...Its a shame that people are actually being frightened by lies...and there are those that refuse to disown those lies...That's what's bothering me!

That's an excellent topic for you to develop. People are frightened by lies because they choose to believe them. In this case, the Secret Service needs to tighten up its security measures, regardless of who it is protecting.
My point of view is based on what I believe, not on political reasoning...If you believe telling lies that can cause dangerous situations for people, is okay, that they just should't believe them, that's your opinion, and that's fine, but I choose not to feel that way...I'm my own person, and stand by what I believe...Indeed, yes some people do believe what they are being told, but when it causes harm, I'm against that.. I care about the people that are getting hurt, because of what's being said about them...
Dangerous lies, are starting to cause people to react in a manner that is causing innocent people to fear for their own safety...They don't have any secret service men, and woman following them around.
Victoria
Further, I do believe in proper security measures, for those persons that need special attention, but when is enough enough...Thats my question...and I say that for all of those parties that need it...I don't hold trump in any more special standing than anyone else. In fact he is a man that is his own worse enemy...He owes the public more than he is willing to give...and it would make the job of any security force much easier if he would stop the ugly way he speaks.
That's my opinion and I'm sticking to that thought!

This is not about Drump nor the hyena. In my opinion both are lying and putting the wool over the American's eyes. It's about the Agency that is paid to make sure they are secured in public. But i can see you have strong emotions about my view.
-
Please, you made yourself, perfectly clear, and the way you identify the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, speaks even clearer.
It's obvious to me, that you and I come from different sides of the street, I'm a people person, especially a person that cares a lot more for those that can't speak for themselves.
Like those that have been condemned by a man whose background is filled with negativity...I really had to laugh, at the name you chose to call her...anything to show disrespect goes I guess...

Good we are on the same team.
-
What makes you think that, No indeed you're on your own team...
I'm not into politics, I've never voted, but I do consider myself a decent human being...God is my provider, and I try my best to do what I believe is in His honor...That's why my concern is for those, that are not being treated with the respect they deserve.
My hope is that whoever should end up sitting in the oval office will at least show that they are there to serve All of us, not a chosen few.
I laughed because I think it's funny, when people choose to make fun of others by calling them names...I think its childish, and certainly doesn't change anything.
If Kamala Harris wins, I hope she realizes that she will never be regarded positively by many people, and must makes every effort to remember that, while she works to do all she can for everyone.
I wish her well, only because the country has to have a leader, and right now the only other one running for president is trump, and for me, he's a man that's just not what this country needs...We need a President, not a King...
Whatever changes that may be needed concerning any problems with the secret service department, can be corrected...However, for anyone to become a leader of this country, they must share in the values that most Americans believe in.
He doesn't, and his aim is to destroy what doesn't fit his future plans.
So no, we're not on the same team at all...But that's fine with me, you see I'm on God's team...

I would truly agree with you that two assassination attempts on a presidential candidate in one summer is mind-boggling. But is this a STORY or an EDITORIAL? I am inclined to believe it is the latter.
