This is well-written and emotions are pretty clear. She doesn't trust Oliver as much as I thought she might. He certainly seems to have a plan she might not like as he insists that she stay in the annex where he lives. I have one question. As an American I don't understand the line: I need to keep Oliver onside.

Hi Jacob, First of all, I would like to say that this a wonderfully written chapter.
Now, something is rather spooky here, and like Danielle, I'm puzzled why she should.wear that dress at dinner. Something is not right. Ulla:)))

This is interesting that Oliver is putting her into annex next to him. I would think that wouldn't go over well with Callum. I surprised that Oliver is giving her a Wi-Fi code. I'm not surprised the house doesn't have one. I am enjoying the story.

So the gates make Danielle uneasy. And then there is this detail:
Oliver steps further into the room. 'Ah, this dress belonged to your mother when she was living here. I thought you would like to have it and, it's up to you, of course, but you might want to possibly wear it to dinner later.'
The purple dress being kept for years makes me think of a weird dress code or ritual. Even if these odd people are good at cleaning bathrooms and making the better rooms approximate a hotel room, Danielle ought to be on her guard, I think.
I wasn't sure what this meant and had to go look it up:
I need to keep Oliver onside
Maybe it's because I was thinking more like:
I need to keep on Oliver's good side.
Now all your readers are going to wonder what will happen the first night back.

You've really succeeded in giving this the creepy factor! And the annexe arrangement and the dress on the bed reinforce this! I can almost smell the mustiness of that dress! Good old Callum - he's a keeper doing this for her!! Another excellent read. Thanks for sharing, Jacob. Debbie

I'm still sitting on the edge of my chair, Jacob, waiting to see when they are going to drop the other shoe. These people ar creepy. Great chapter and we take another tiny step forward,

All sorts of red flags are flying high. Danielle is in real danger. I'm wondering if Callum will be able to rescue her, or maybe Max. None of this good. You're doing a good job writing this.

Nicely done again. This easily drew me in and kept my interest. I like how you build suspense through little details such as the separation of rooms. I can't help but wonder what secrets lie ahead! Great job!
