This is beautiful! Your words are carefully, perfectly chosen. One of the reasons I like this so much is because I now feel compelled to write about a very similar experience. (I've always felt it strange that we put a warning on descriptions of love, but there's apparently no need to warn of violence and pain.) Thank you!

Your poem graphically describes what it is/was like to spend that last Summer night with someone you fell for, but had to say goodbye to. I really like the imagery of how you spent that last night in each other's arms. Rod

"But I turn my back
on the horizon's view;

to watch
the summer sunset
in his eyes."

When we're in love, the eyes say it all, don't they? Good luck in the contest.

You are getting very consistent in these top notch free verse pieces. I liked the wave like rhythm of the language, the soft tone to the voice, and the colorful images were terrific. One line really stood out and I have to say it seems like one of the strongest lines I have read. "We sink like stones and secrets into the sand." That's what poetry is all about, capturing a sense of the experience of life transcendent. A moment when these images of a beach symbolize our inability to completely share one another, to hold onto the moment, or stay focused. This is the kind of line that Yeats was such a master at. So you are in great company. estory

Romantic bliss exposed in love's sweet kiss. If told a thousand times, it will never seem old or worn. This is the magic of true love. You did a masterful job of expressing this magical expression of sweet love and its endearing passion as the moon supplants the sun in the evening sky. Bravo!

Wow! What a beautiful poem. You have so many well chosen words for lyrical descriptions. My favorite line was: To dangle where the moon and love both loom. Well done!

This is a beautiful poem, full of metaphors so strong and well-crafted that I also felt the narrator to be like a fish on the line, fighting the ending. Very cool effect, and PERFECT picture to go in tandem with your well-chosen words. Xo
