I always wanted a sister. I guess it wasn't in the cards. I have to smile as you shower such love, praise, happy memories, and birthday wishes to Diane. You did it in AABB rhyme too--which I always find more difficult than ABAB. She's your OLDEST sister huh? That must mean she's even older than ME! (LOL)

I don't know where you found that image but it's beautiful, Debi.

Silly girl, actually Diane is kinda your sister since you are my sister. Don't you know that? After all if you ever had a surrogate one, I claim that spot proudly.

However Diane is 78 and was a little overly motherly to me back in those days, but I am paying her back for all the times I had to hear, "This is my baby sister." Now that we are so much older, I make sure she has to hear,
"I am her baby sister." Not so funny anymore, huh sis? Plus there are two more age, 77 and 76 who I love dearly, and I am thankful to be the baby sister to.
Actually with two older brothers, there was only one younger than me, and that was Denny who was killed at age 47 in a blizzard. I should really write that story since I already wrote the one about Denny and the 63 Chevy.

Boy, when I hit on a subject I don't know when to shut up. Sorry!!

Thanks for the awesome review and bringing all that out. So with all that, did you have any brothers? Your turn, sis, take the stage!!! (Smile and hugs)

I always wanted a sister when I was little and this poem brings me back to that time of my life. I love how much emotional perspective you work into these lines: more specifically, I like how the speaker is very clearly outlined as a younger sibling who looks up to their older sister. It's a very specific voice and you wrote it very well!
