Yaaaay! The courtship is back on track, where it belongs. This was a lovely chapter with four characters who are diverse, interesting and mix well together. I will like continuing to see how their lives intertwine. xoxo

All is well for this group for now. We won't be seeing too much more of Daniel and Kimi until much later in the story, where they will play an important part.
-
Hmmm! That's intriguing!

I'm traveling this week and read this chapter out of order. I guess I survived, though. (smiley face here)
Good for Daniel and Kimiko.
Best wishes.

Thanks, Wayne. Good luck on your travels. Where to, by the way?

We went to the Chicago area and Quad Cities (Moline region)

They've turned out to be a pretty good matchmakers! I thought you engineered this patching up of the relationship in a way that was natural and believable. Nicely done.

Thanks very much, Tony. I appreciate that. These few feel-good chapters will have some bearing during later parts of the story.
I love writing these sorts of brief interludes in a larger story, but I try to make them fit into the larger context and relevant in some currently unseen way, rather than just occurring as amusing standalone sub-plots.

I'm so glad Kimi and Daniel have been able to untie their tongues. This has been a really sweet few chapters as we see them progress. You've written. these chapters well Jim.
cheers,

Glad you enjoyed them, valda. A bit of fun I threw in before it starts to get heavy again. These two will play another key role in the story before the end.

"The Devil Went Down to Georgia" is a piece that even I know!
"Now I will take my leave ..." I love the way Daniel talks, it seems authentic to my mind.
He picked up his tray - where did he set it down? At Brian's table? I thought he had it when he went to speak with Kimi.
These four are becoming good friends.
Hope you have a good weekend. It's finally cooled off a bit here in North Florida, but it won't last.

Thanks so much, Pam. I'm honored by your six stars. "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" was what turned me into a Charlie Daniels fan, and from there, I began to enjoy country music where I never particularly did before. We will continue to encounter this song throughout the story, and it will take on a special significance before the end.

Oh, dear!
-
In this case it will be North Carolina instead of Georgia.

Adding more people to watch his destruction. They say researchers should never use themselves or family as testers for products, how can you be unbiased? Good writing here. Karen

Absolutely correct. How can you be unbiased when you want it to work? The only good reason I can think of for doing it is if you or your loved one suffers from the same condition you're trying to fix, and you want to fix yourself or them asap.
-
I understand the need, but when your need is so strong you autmatically skew the results because you want it to work so bad. Karen

A nice chapter. The misunderstanding was fixed, and a new couple is in the making. The college kids got to enjoy an impromptu concert, with some known classics and favorites.
Good work.

Thanks, Lance.
Just in case you might be wondering how this bit of niceness will fit in with the larger plot, there will be a couple of ways made clear later in the story.
Comment from lyenochka
Well, the impromptu music and Brian's explanation of what Daniel was trying to do really helped to fix the situation! It sounds like Daniel and Kimiko will develop a good friendship now.

Chances of that have certainly improved.
There really is a point to all this in the larger context of the story. It's just going to take a while to see it.

I'm so glad that things have worked out with Daniel and the Japanese girl Kimiko, it's amazing what can happen if we are more forgiving and approachable, it's so nice to be in a relationship, and I'm glad Julia exposed her great talent, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Thanks, Roy. Things seemed to work themselves out between these two. Makes you wonder if these two might end up as a couple and what that might mean to the larger story.
-
Of course
Comment from BethShelby
That worked out will for the student who got off to such a bad start. Julia was a big hit in Brians dorm with violin playing. Everything seems to going well.

Oh, you just uttered the words that are the kiss of death. "Everything seems to be going well." If only that could last, but then again, we wouldn't have a very interesting story.
-
I realize there are some bad things to come. Just not in every chapter. A lot of time with you it is just about building your characters and it is the calm before the storm.
